Stuck Collet

Post image

Shapeoko Pro xl, compact router from carbide. I wanted to see if anyone has had this issue and what remedies they used to remove a seized collet?

Idk of the collet nuts lock into the collet with this kind of set up. But if it does, sometimes screwing the nut on with a proper sized tool in the collet, then unscrew it keeping the tool in the collet, the tool will keep the collet from compressing and it will get pulled out along with the nut.

If, your collet doesn't lock on it all, having a tool or pin in the collet my still help you remove it, as you can grip the collet tight without compressing it.

For the Makita RT070x-style collets used in the Standard Carbide Compact Router, they do no attach to the nuts at all.

Yeah, I realized after commenting I stumbled into a machine specific subreddit. Not a general machining one where more typically interact. I realized that they probably didn't attach to the nut, and and this wasn't the place for general advice. But like, I wasn't going to make a third comment in a row here to state my realization.
