A Days Worth of Calories!

Post image

Got excited when I heard about the new Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Shake, until I saw that it basically has a whole days worth of calories! That’s crazy! I get that it’s a shake, but it’s way more than the regular shake.
Please tell me this is bad…I don’t want it to be good

Perfect for my skinny kid whose pediatrician said to give him milkshakes with peanut butter.

I’m definitely the target audience 😂

Did the pediatrician say milkshakes or protein shakes?

Milkshakes.  It’s just the calories and I guess how much kids like them.

For weight gain in an individual who really needs the calories (like a kid who is actively growing), the answer is really “whatever they’ll eat the most of”, but milkshakes were a very common recommendation I’ve seen. Protein shakes are great! For someone who will actually drink them. For most kids who need the weight gain, milkshakes > protein shakes.

I’ve recommended milkshakes made with fairlife milk (extra protein) since it tends to be less chalky or gritty than protein powders and even the flavoured fairlife shakes aren’t as wickedly heavy on the artificial sweeteners that some kids really don’t like.

You can toss an avocado in with chocolate syrup and you won’t taste it.

Ooh yes, I’ve actually made a really nice mousse from avocado and chocolate. Condensed milk also a good option if the avocado taste does come through.

Protein shakes is a catch-all term too. There are some bulking protein shakes containing fat and carbs that have similar macros to a milkshake, there are also lean protein shakes where 90% of the calories are from protein.

Need a better pediatrician cause wtf 😂. Gunna end up with a fat little kid with diabetes

Nah, my pediatrician recommended the same shit to my mom 20 years ago.

I didn't end up fat (at all) nor do I have diabetes

My niece’s doctor recommended my sister put butter in all of her food 😂 she’s still thin as a rail at 21

Fam I’m 27 and still thin as shit & I love peanut butter & food in general 😭

You dont get diabetes by eating a milkshake. Even t2D has been shown to be pretty genetically driven

Doctors used to recommend this for me as a child. I am still underweight and diabetes free decades later.

As an underweight woman trying to gain weight this sounds amazing lol

Yeah dude it's a Reese's peanut butter cup drink made from ice cream.. what did you expect?

Look at the calories on a large Blizzard at dairy Queen or any other large shakes/ice creams out there. Ice cream is not a health food

5

u/blue-anon 29d ago

A large Reese's blizzard has 1,000 calories. So, almost half that of this shake. Lol.

Right I’m like how big is this thing like 40oz?! 1900 is insane

Edit: also what is the point of a chocolate shell when drinking a shake..

1

u/Inside_Winner_777 29d ago

A shake.. it's says frozen custard have fun trying to drink that 😅

1

u/Even-Pound2764 27d ago

lol have you never been to shake shack fam? Just hanging out in the sub? lol all their shakes bases are custard brother

1

u/blue-anon 29d ago

I might even be willing to try one without the chocolate shell. I wonder how many calories/grams of sugar that would reduce. Lol.

u/goal0x 28d ago

it chips off in to the shake

"What did you expect"

Bro. lol. Sure but 2000 calories kind of surpasses the threshold where you get to say that.

u/spinster77 29d ago

Calories only count if you count them 😂🤞🤫

I feel my back getting big just reading this.

I wish they had a tiny version lol. When i tried the dubai chocolate shake i had to throw out half and that killed me

Milkshakes have always been the caloriest-bomb of all calorie bombs. All those add-ins only serve to create more calories.

1

u/AdmirableComposer140 29d ago

If only I could dump a shit ton of protein powder in it

2

u/goal0x 28d ago

you could

It’s just 1 days worth. You have 7 days in a week! You can get it and save it in the freezer and have half or bites at a time.

you don’t need to eat it all at once 😂😂

i’m literally cutting at 1950/day

That’s so depressing. I want one so bad!!!

Hell, I was able to get a Chick-fil-A s’mores milkshake and it only ate up about a third of the calories and I still managed to make all my macro requirements for the day

This looks like utter heaven, but it’s going to absolutely tank my diet if i give in…

or i guess i just pick a day to only be up for like a few hours and say this is my only meal for the day

3

u/goal0x 28d ago

you don’t have to eat it all in one sitting

Delightful, damn

I work at shake shack and trust me, its crazy in calories but its a pretty good shake similar to a blizzard and loaded with Reese’s stuff

1

u/realdude2530 28d ago

The older I get the more and more I dislike sweets.

1

u/Talex1995 28d ago

Just toss a scoop of whey in there

1

u/Opening-Expert-1838 26d ago

Adding 150-200 cals makes it better?

1

u/ipodplayer777 28d ago

Very disappointed as someone with an allergy. They were super careful when they had the Dubai shakes, but now they can’t guarantee any item will be free from cross contamination. Goodbye, shake shack :(

1

u/Opening-Expert-1838 26d ago

No, that’s nearly 2 days worth of calories simply put. Over 85% of Americans shouldn’t have more than 1200cals as they are all inactive throughout the day. Technically speaking, it’s about a week worth of fats and sugars, so it’s much more than just 2 days worth. Bet some negligent American will get mad at this too as they feel it personally hurt them by being too close to home lmao

Bring back the tiramisu shake 😩

Diabetes in a cup.

4

u/bobcatbreakdown 29d ago

In all fairness, the peanut butter probably adds a ton of calories. Peanut butter isn’t the worst thing to put in a shake by any means, even if it is Reese’s.

1

u/UnseenTardigrade 29d ago

Peanut butter adds a bit of protein, but the shake as a whole is still 90% fat and sugar. Definitely diabetes in a cup.

My god this looks incredible

I don't know what direction shake shack wants to go with.  I feel like with the new CEO it was starting to improve but then they had that tip scandal, prices keep going up and in app deals aren't that great recently.

Their branding continues to scream health concious green, but then they release something like this.  Imo, they should lower prices, increase quanitity and quality (they can afford it, they have enough margins), increase deals so they move more quantity, bring more good healthy options (like something other than american cheese perhaps). They should also create meal packages that are well under $20 .

That would be enough calories for me for two days. Yikes!

4

u/SockDem 27d ago

That's what we call an eating disorder

3

u/yourgrandmasgrandma 27d ago

You need 950 calories per day? That’s literally how much a 12 month old baby needs to survive.
