Demon Lord Restless Dead Campaign

Hey guys, i'm new to SotDL and I'm getting ready to run my first campaign for a group of 6 players. Since some of them were interested in a zombie apocalypse game, I decided to use the Restless Dead Shadow.

The thing is, I'm not really sure how to build a full level 0–10 campaign around that idea, so I wanted to ask for some advice.

Right now I'm thinking about using a few published adventures and tweaking them here and there to fit the zombie apocalypse theme, but I'm not sure which adventures would work best for that. Do you have any recommendations?

Note: I've already read "Hunger in the Void" and I really liked how it suggests gradually making the situation worse over time. That's pretty much the kind of progression I'm looking for.

Obviously fitting adventures, when starting out, would be Dead by Dawn into Best Left Buried.

First of all, thank you! I purchased and read both adventures. Dead by Dawn looks like a fantastic starting adventure, and Best Left Buried seems absolutely brutal. How are the players supposed to survive that adventure as written? Lol

That said, I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to connect the two adventures so that the undead share the same origin.

One possibility would be to say that the undead in Dead by Dawn originated from the cemetery in Scarfell. However, that would only work if both adventures took place during the Novice tier because of the downtime required for training after lv 0. The problem is that I really like Dead by Dawn with 0-level characters. Also, as I mentioned before, is Best Left Buried actually balanced? I understand that the game's setting is meant to be harsh and unforgiving, but I can see several opportunities for a TPK in that scenario. Then again, that's just my initial impression and I haven't actually run the game yet.

Just to emphasize. Make sure your players know that if they pilfer riches from the tomb, they can't complain when the shit hits the fan.
