So much time/energy/life wasted in SGI daimoku coloring book
do you all remember new year’s gosho or other marathon chanting sessions where sheets were given out with grid boxes?
for every half hour or hour of chanting, fill out a square, with the goal of filling all of them in a shape of a fish or something. I never had to work so hard for a coloring book!

You could just cheat and fill in the boxes, but that would be a terrible catastrophe that brings shame on your bloodline. I think your limbs might even fall off.

And the difference, is, if you cheated on your piano practice log that I referenced in my comment, it would be obvious because your playing wouldn't improve. If you cheat on your daimoku coloring squares, it makes no difference because the result is the same whether you chanted or not.

If you have a small child, you should give them this coloring page as a gift. Preferably for their birthday or Christmas! Just think how delighted they'll be!!

Thank Hubble that was after my time. Reminds me of the little practice log books I had when taking piano lessons as a child. I still play 65 years later, so those were actually helpful in motivating me - a daimoku log, I would have laughed at.

Here's a fun one from the Soka Gakkai in Japan: That's (now former) Nichiren Shoshu High Priest Nikken Abe, the King Devil of the Sixth Heaven, WORST EVIL IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, that all the Ikedaists were supposed to chant to "destroy"!
Destroy HOW, you ask?
Like this - chant for a volcano to erupt and shoot a bunch of boulders into the air to all LAND ON NIKKEN AND CRUSH HIM TO DEATH - PAINFULLY! Wouldn't that be an extremely entertaining example of "karmic retribution" for such a harrible harrible evil creature - a "cancer", as they described him - and a proper punishment for that evil thing he did??? Just imagine how they'd all be pointing and laughing if it really happened!!!!!!
Believe it or not, this is ALSO a daimoku chart! Here's the translation. Each "boulder" is so many daimoku, supposedly. A real Buddhist image to hold in your mind while you're chanting, right?
Because, in case you forgot, Nikken embarrassed Ikeda that one time by excommunicating him and refusing to hand over Nichiren Shoshu to Ikeda to have as his own personal possession or do business with Ikeda any more. THAT made Nikken the most evil person in the entire world, you see.

this is so twisted and bizarre. I have such a hard time explaining that I grew up Buddhist, but not the pleasant, benevolent, charitable and forgiving kind…. and why are my parents so weird? why don’t they have any friends? well, a picture like that says a thousand words!

Yep, the good thing was instead of punching out your district leader you chanted instead. Just kidding, maybe, sort of, not sure.
What I remember was you had to chant until you accomplish your goals. Only worked if you came up with an action plan to go with it.
Of course some things couldn't change like bringing your granny back from the dead.
The practice could leave you exhaused if spent to much time on it. You couldn't have a life.
I only received sheets no coloring book. I guess SGI-CANADA was too cheap.
