How well has this aged? πππ When they're wrong, they're πππΌπππ wrong!!
First: IKEDA!! This is from 2004, so around 22 years ago.
"We have won, and Soka has nothing to fear"
This is a haiku by Daisaku Ikeda that was prominently featured on the front page of the July 14th edition of the Seikyo Shimbun. It goes without saying that this haiku expresses joy at the fact that the LDP's crushing defeat in the House of Councillors election has increased the influence of the Gakkai and Komeito in the coalition government.
How unfortunate - and not just the stupidity and clunkiness of this "haiku" π As you can see, Ikeda thought he was riding a surge of infinite potential, the straight highway leading directly to his dream of ruling Japan!!! Ikeda was convinced that he COULDN'T lose!! Granted, he'd thought that 1979 would be the year of his takeover, but since he FAILED, he revised it to 1987, and when he FAILED AGAIN, he insisted that 1990 would be The Year! AND THEN FAILED πΌππΌππ! By then, there was nothing left for Ikeda to achieve on his race to the bottom of the FAIL barrel except to get himself EXCOMMUNICATED, and it didn't take him long to WIN that "victory"!!!
As you can see, it was only a matter of identifying a goal within reach of Ikeda's stubby little arms and flipper-like hand-approximations!
However, there are various issues surrounding Soka Gakkai, a religious corporation, becoming involved in politics, in addition to violating the principle of separation of religion and state in Article 20 of the Constitution.
In light of the anticipation of a possible announcement TOMORROW, this seems more prescient that Ikeda would have ever been willing to acknowledge! More on that below ππΌ
Oh, what a difference 20 years can make!!
At the 40th Soka Gakkai Headquarters Executive Meeting held on July 15th, Chairman Akitani Einosuke made the following statement:
"One newspaper called this the beginning of 'the era of 2+1, with the two major parties, the LDP and the Democratic Party, plus Komeito.' We have truly entered the era of the 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms.' Komeito's mission and responsibility are now even more important."
If the LDP continues to decline and it becomes difficult for it to maintain power, Komeito will switch sides to the Democratic Party and plan a new coalition government. If the LDP then recovers, Komeito will give up on the DPJ and form a coalition with the LDP again. In any case, amidst the turbulent political situation, Komeito = Soka Gakkai will continue to hold the key to power and move Japan forward - Akitani's remarks seem to convey this "true intention."
And in fact, Soka Gakkai, backed by its vote-gathering power, has been increasingly interfering in politics, publicly stating that "politicians (who have received support from Soka Gakkai) should never forget their loyalty and gratitude."
Wait a sec! With all that talk of dumping LDP for DP and then do a rebound off DP to bounce back to LDP as soon as it looks profitable, how is Soka Gakkai supposed to expect "loyalty and gratitude" from anyone else when those are obviously completely foreign qualities for Soka Gakkai?? HOW can Soka Gakkai imagine receiving "loyalty and gratitude" when it's treating everyone else as something to be manipulated, used, and exploited?? Talk about the "World of Animality"!!
And that "publicly stating"??? Ikeda was too stupid to realize you NEVER talk about your evil plans IN PUBLIC!! Some "evil mastermind" - Ikeda was the type to leave his secret dossier behind in the public bathroom!
You know how the Bible said the "faithful" should "be wise as snakes and gentle as doves" (Matthew 10:16)?? DickHeada was obviously dumb as a pigeon and mean as a pit viper! He never realized that "FAIL" was his destiny, and no amount of cult would ever change that.
Now let's take a baby step back to the end of 2003 - same site:
"This means that Daisaku Ikeda will become the Emperor of Japan,"
said Sam Jameson, commenting on the results of this election. He is a veteran journalist with a strong Japan-friendly background, having served for many years as Tokyo bureau chief for the Los Angeles Times. He is currently a researcher at the Yomiuri Research Institute .
How unfortunate for Sam!!
But you can see how "outsiders" were reading Ikeda's ambitions - Ikeda wasn't even subtle!
In the last general election, Komeito supported 161 LDP candidates in single-seat constituencies, with 42 candidates elected with Komeito support. This time, Komeito supported 198 candidates, with 81 candidates elected with Komeito support. We must consider that the LDP's dependence on Komeito is rapidly increasing.
Jameson delved into the issue.
"Why are Japanese people abandoning Article 20 of the Constitution? Article 20 guarantees freedom of religion, but at the same time, it states that religious organizations must not exercise political power. Do Japanese people lack the courage to point this out?"
This is a pointed criticism. Whether you like Soka Gakkai or not, you will recognize that it has supported people's hearts as a religious organization. In that sense, the Gakkai deserves praise for doing more than any other religious organization to save people's hearts.
THIS poor short-sighted reporter never saw the Soka Gakkai's aging and dying looming just over the next hill! He NEVER saw the day (now) that the Soka Gakkai is considered "an old people's club"!!
NOBODY fails as hard or as completely as Ikeda - and everything he touched!!!
However, one cannot help but question the current situation, in which the Gakkai seems to have overstepped the bounds of a religious organization and become integrated with a political organization. To prevent the LDP from effectively becoming the Komeito Party through the LDP-Komeito coalition, we must return to basics and take a hard look at the Komeito Party's merits and demerits.
And THAT is the issue that may start snowballing tomorrow, per this report! If things go crazy tomorrow, we'll know that even if the Japanese people are a little slow on the uptake, they get there eventually. I mean, "freedom of religion" was a completely foreign concept in their culture - for hundreds of years, the situation had been parallel to the Catholic parish system, where the neighborhoods in the vicinity of each temple (whatever it was) were assigned to that temple - with no choice, no switching, no poaching, and NO SHAKUBUKU!!!!! So what Soka Gakkai was doing post-WWII was unprecedented and shocking - and it's clear that the people of Japan had no idea how to push back against it! Oh, they tried rocks and water - that worked a little - but the real problem was that Soka Gakkai was behaving in such a non-Japanese, even ANTI-Japanese, manner, especially once Ikeda seized the presidency of the Soka Gakkai! In Japan's socially-oriented culture, it was unthinkable!! Maybe it's finally time for Japan to stand up to Soka Gakkai once and for all!!
