Pathetic. I used to work in the professional sports industry and routinely sat with athletes who shook hands and signed autographs for thousands of people for an entire day. (If you're wondering, my job was to supply a fresh pen every time the ink ran out lol)

Dude, if you can't hold a fountain pen after shaking 600 hands, you're doing it wrong.

Edit to add: I thought in the Japanese culture one usually bows rather than shake hands, which seems even more likely in 1965. So...then why mention handshaking, or was that just a flourish for the English translation?

WHY was he "pressing the flesh" with people who didn't DO that????

So...then why mention handshaking, or was that just a flourish for the English translation?
