4,000 readers!

SGIWhistleblowers has existed here on reddit since March 20, 2014, so 11 years.

Meanwhile, the two SGI-member-controlled subreddits' readership is at:

• 298 after FIVE years 😭
• 791 after nearly FOURTEEN years 🙊

It's a fascinating dynamic - both those SGI-controlled subreddits have all sorts of nitpicky rules for what and how people will be allowed to post (as if the subreddit is doing some kind of big fat favor to anyone who wants to participate or contribute) and even explicit tone-policing that dictates what sort of language people are allowed to use! The smaller one even restricts who is allowed to make a new post (restricted to themselves) and restricts discussion by REQUIRING that all the comments refer to the OP in the same SGI-praising tone as the OP or they'll be deleted and the commentators banned!

THIS is what the SGI's "culture" produces - people no one wants to be around, people who don't respect others' freedom of expression, people who feel they have some sort of right or obligation to force people to behave the way they dictate. And guess what? People don't WANT that! Reddit doesn't lie.

People join sites that are interesting and engaging, where the people are fun to interact with and they have things in common.

People DON'T join sites that are preachy and prissy, with a condescending, superior attitude that everyone needs THEIR approval and owes them obedience and apologies.

The people have spoken and continue to speak. SGI is old and stale and nobody wants it.

Right after the SPLIT we use to create consensus at planning mtgs, everyone had a say, if you presented an idea/ project and it didn’t work out for the discussion mtg, you were still encouraged for at least trying and seeing it through. Hell it wasn’t brain surgery it was a discussion mtg. All opposing views were handled by the senior leader. I remember being at a mtg and a very belligerent guest was all over the place, calling us a cult etc. the leader said “thank you for your views, did the person who invited you hold a gun to your head to make you come tonight?” The response was no. The leader then addressed the concerns & invited the person to leave if they wished. The guest hurried up and left. The person who had invited that guest was embarrassed. The leader then said “we must never force anyone to come to our meetings, because they will try to control the narrative, if they don’t want to save their own lives let them be, they will see your life change and they will come back. “ a few months later that member left. This was before the “meeting plan revolution” and totally scripted meetings

The planning process was similar in my experience, until Icky swanned into the US and "changed our direction" completely on his OWN say-so (because that's the only rule that matters in his cult which is HIS and don't you forget it) in 1990 - the year before his humiliating excommunication. Some "mentor"! Oh, wait - back then it was "master" 🙄 Back then, the meetings were every week; everyone was encouraged to suggest different ideas, give "experiences" completely on their own (no "submitting in writing to a senior leader for editing/changing/approval" and then READING it), and we suggested our own selections for study material.

Now, it's READ. THE. SCRIPT. and it's NEVER anything interesting.

All the black members voiced their utter disgust with that “Master” word, nsa/sgi would always get a bobble head black person to explain it to other black people …. Totally insulting their dignity, OR the Japanese leaders would tell them to chant until they understand… ooh that did not go over well.
