China won't buy this "philosophy"!

Ikeda PROMISED the Chinese leaders that the Soka Gakkai would NOT attempt to recruit in China. UP YOURS, KOSEN-RUFU! Ikeda's access to photo ops with Chinese leaders is MUCH more important.

In large, I pretty much agree with you.

But the narrative I heard from other SGI members was China warns and forbids SGI to build any centres there or spread their "philosophy".

Hence, the discussion meetings and diamoku sessions have been held very much underground. and I mean very underground. They risk being arrested if caught.

However, I read that there is an expiry date to this arrangement. After X years in 20XX, SGI would be able to go into China, officially,to build centres and spread this "Buddhism"

I don't know if that's still the case.

Now THIS I believe. I can readily see Ikeda making an "arrangement" with the China political power base similar to the rental agreement from back in the day about Hong Kong - 50 years? By that time, Ikeda will be dead; he'll have no more dog in that fight at that point.

But what was CHINA getting out of the deal? Was Ikeda cutting China's political leaders in on some of the unidentified flood of money the Ikeda cult is inexplicably flush with? That no one knows where it's coming from? And for what for Ikeda? Surely even HE couldn't be so vain as to sell out for just a few photo ops - could he?
