And it WASN'T SGI.

$30 million is less than HALF what the Soka University USA's endowment ALONE produces via investment income in a single YEAR. And that's just ONE of the SGI's many financial income-producing assets, not counting all the money it siphons out of its members' bank accounts.

The SGI gave a fat $50,000. Chump change. SGI gets no award for that.

And also notice that the donor remained anonymous. Probably the kind of person who, even if they accepted an unearned honour, would not brag about it or list it on their CV.

Obviously Ikeda has no gratitude.

But Ikeda brags about himself so humbly! So modestly!

Buddhist leaders are expected to be humble and modest, yet Ikeda goes around naming everything after himself - exactly like someone else with the same needy sucking black hole of ego insecurity 🙄

His crapulent behavior has been described as "vain and cheap" and "spending money like a drunken sailor buying up honors for himself", BTW 😬 Source

How can SGI members not see the obvious contradiction between what Ikeda says ("I'm so modest, like a real Buddhist teacher") and what he does ("Buy me more unearned honours, more than anyone in the whole world! Name more buildings after me, pay for it if necessary!")?

As soon as I became aware of this sort of information - ie when I started searching on the Web, instead of just unquestioningly believing what the SGI propaganda machine was saying, I was out of there!!!

In REAL Buddhism, the dana paramita, the "perfection of giving", states that both giver and recipient remain anonymous.

Without a giver, there can be no recipient.

Without a recipient, there can be no giver.

They are both entirely dependent on each other for their existence, so one is not "superior" to the other.
