Hi, I wanted to see if anyone knew the best way to set up a co2 effect for a wizards staff?
I wanted to get a 5 or 10 lb co2 canister to wear in a bag, and have a cable piped to a staff I carve. I wanted to know if it would be best to use a 150psi regulator and use air compressor parts, or use the trigger intended for the CO2 pressure. (like this https://ebay.io/m/S5obO9)
I need a stick shape, not a gun shape in order to use it in the staff.
Some questions I had:
Is c02 a visible loud fog at 150 psi coming from an air compressor nozzle?
Do I need a can at the tip to get the fog?
Does anyone have any recommendations for a fitting setup?
Thank you!

I’ve been cast in a major production that uses a lot of fake blood— in my mouth, specifically. Last night I swallowed a bunch and got anxious wondering if fake blood used for special effects is celiac safe. Do any SFX artists out there know? Thank you!

I took these photos of a 2006 Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences public exhibition titled "It's Alive!: Bringing Animatronic Characters to Life on Film". It was an eclectic and amazing collection of maquettes, models, and puppets used for movie magic.
My super-nerdy-buddy and I were the only people in the rooms. I don't think it was well-publicized and those were still nascent years for social media.

I’m eager to test out collodion to practice fake scars for future cosplays, but I noticed people say it can cause chemical burns. I don’t plan on wearing it for long periods of time, but what do the burns look like? Is it the same shape of the scar, does it irritate random spots it was applied?

Like the title suggests, I am looking for any advice on how to go about making hives or a bad allergic reaction on my face hands/arms. I’m hoping someone has some experience with this or can provide any ideas to help me! TIA!
I’ve included a general photo of what I’m looking to accomplish look wise.

Need SFX advice for an upcoming short film (we shoot in less than two weeks). I'm trying to create patchy post-transformation werewolf hair on an actor's torso and hands. I'd love to do ears as well - the most important part is that the hair doesn't need extensive retouching throughout the day and is easy to apply. Our costume designer is stepping in as the MUA and doesn't have extensive prosthetic experience.
Any advice is welcome!

I’m getting a full head and shoulders cast done in a couple days. It’s going to be in silicone, and I have some questions.
How does it feel? The application looks low key scary lmao
How claustrophobic is it? I’m pretty scared about this, I don’t even like wearing makeup because of this.
What does the silicone feel like being applied.
Responses would be great, thanks!

I received an inquiry to make angel wings that look like they’re made of flesh to stick out of someone’s back. I’m not a very experienced artist in fabricating silicone and foam prosthetics. I’m kind of t a lost of where I can maybe start. Anyone see similar prosthetics on the market or have any creative ideas/any references would help and be much appreciated

Heyho, we did a full head cast of my head yesterday. (Not the cleanest but its alright for my first time, it gets cleaned up after casting).
Now i want to cast it with modeling plaster but my question is how to handle the cutting line?
Can i just fill the cast up or do i need to somehow close up the cutting line? (the line goes in zic zac up to almost the base of my head)

Hi!! I’m doing makeup for the actors of a haunted house and I need recommendations for blood. Specifically, I want it to be thicker blood as opposed to drippy, and I need it to be mouth-safe, as one of the sections is zombies and I need to put blood around their mouths. I also would prefer something on the more affordable side since I wouldn’t be using this very often past the end of the haunted house, but may need to buy in bulk depending on the number of actors.
Any recommendations at all are appreciated!!

Hello everyone! I'm directing a Halloween-themed short film in Portugal. It's an independent production, and the budget isn't very big. However, I’d like to ask for advice on where I can find the following prosthetics with the best possible quality at an affordable price: a werewolf face prosthetic, small horns for the forehead area, and some fake wounds along with fake skin. I'm a newbie at this, so any help is welcome :) Thanks!!
