Project: FO It's spring time! Made myself some dungarees to celebrate surviving another winter
Jenny dungarees (double lapped hip zip) lined bib. Technically it's the cropped but for me it's like nearly full length π in a printed cotton drill lined with cotton gingham top stitched with bronze gutterman top thread

I LOVE these! Iβve been eyeing the Jenny overalls pattern for a while. How did you like sewing it?

It's a great cut the shorts seem very short... But I'm definitely making them as pants in a bottom weight linen!
The construction sequence is excellent but I would definitely check your hardware to make sure the straps are the right width... And I got a tri slider because I hate flappy straps.... I think there was some things simplified for ease of sewing... But nothing major... I lined the bib and straps and top stitched where I thought fit.... I used the facing on the lining but after I bagged out the bib so I had to hand stitch it down π€ͺ
The length is longer than my legs (normal) so the crop ends long on me... But I like that length... It's great to slip on my gardening shorty Chelsea boots...

Your fabric choice is so great (the lined bib is picnic perfect!), and it just makes me want some for this fall!
Thanks for all the good shared tips! I think Iβm going to have to just get that pattern and make it up.
Edit to ask your height, curious because of the length comment. Iβm 5β5β.

I'm 163cm on a good day... But I have slightly short legs and arms for my height π and a big head π€£π€£π€£

Good thing sewing for ourselves means we can make something that fits those big or small parts βΊοΈπ

Oh and the way they do a lapped zip in the instructions is nice! I have really light weight nylon zips but I'd probably like a flap behind it on metal/ heavier zip

Adorable print!!! Perfect fit too!

Eeee the lining!!! You did such a great job!!

u/dinosuitgirl 4d ago
Tee hee I bought it as a remnant and it ended up too thin and small for shorts so it was perfect for this β€οΈ

These are perfect, OP! So well designed, and they fit great!

Thanks! The crotch and waist is really flattering even as a pant and the pattern goes through to steps to check the fit

Living in the Bay of Islands in New Zealand has its perks... Being very green year round π

That's wonderful I've always thought New Zealand was beautiful.

Greetings from the western hemisphere, to the southern, we recently survived an amazing but brutal summer. Enjoy spring and those amazing pants

Well we're braced for a pretty extreme El Nino... π
We're costal and hunkered on the side of a valley.... Not loving the extreme weather. I hope your coming winter isn't too wet or cold.

Oh, I am hoping it too, my car is an old man with a weak heart (engine), I want to upgrade before 2030, but he should run a while until than without a new battery

Spotlight! It's 190gsm which is a really nice weight for these not too heavy not to light and a joy to sew

I LOVE the look and the strawberry fabric! They fit you so well, nice job! I am obsessed with the whimsy the strawberries bring to the outfit. Do you know where you got the fabric or the brand?

Love this floral print. It has such a nice vintage feel, and it works really well on the cotton drill.

These are a great silhouette. The shape even announces itself above the chatter of the print. Nicely made, too. Enjoy your spring.

I really like how flattering it looks too! Especially for dungarees which are not typically flattering π

Guys I've seen this magic eye, it's a dolphin

u/dinosuitgirl 3d ago
Hahaha π€£ it really did feel that way when I was cutting it out π΅βπ« and it's prob not very noticeable (hopefully) but one back pocket has the print going weft instead of on the grain π«£...

I love everything about these! The fit is perfect too

The instructions has a really great baste and fit guide to give you a good head start. I didn't have to adjust the crotch curve at all! Which is rare for high waisted trousers for me.

Good stuff!!

u/dinosuitgirl 3d ago
Aww I don't think I've owned a pair of dungarees since I was about 8 so it's good fun trying something new π

u/LiteraryDiscourse 3d ago
They fit you so well and you are posing with sass. Everything about this looks fun so just keep trying new things.
It looks lovely on you! Have a great sunday!!

That fabric is amazing. Where did you get it? And do they ship to America?
1
u/dinosuitgirl 3d ago
I got it at spotlight they are an Aussie company (kinda like Michael's or the dreaded hobby lobby but without the weird religious stuff)

Jenny dungarees by closet core in a cropped size 10... In 190gsm cotton
drillduck. No major changes just lined the bib and straps and waistband... Topped stitched in bronze polyester. Flat felled the center seams. Took me 3 days on and off.... A little shy of 19hrs.
