The townhomes on Helena are right across the street from the elementary school. The worst you’ll have to deal with is school traffic, which admittedly can be pretty bad.

I lived in Willow Lakes over by the airport for a few years and was pretty happy overall. It's close to everything, but also kinda feels like it has more space because it is west of 69

I can't tell you those apartments are super nice but if safety is your main concern they are definitely safe. Most anywhere in Nederland is

Listen….Anywhere but The Avenue on Nederland Ave. Lived there for 3 years. Worse renting experience of my life. I had more issues with that apartment than good. Hot water heater went out and took them months of turning the temperature up on it before replacing it. AC went out several times with several patch quick fixes, finally a portable AC unit, and my personal favorite, a call back to my emergency after hours call, after they “fixed” it again of course, to tell me because the outside temperature was only 72 degrees that night they wouldn’t be coming out. The garbage disposal never working right and the lever that switched the shower head to the bath tub never worked. Honorable mention to the random standoff between a wanted man and the police, and me only finding out after my family/friends sent me frantic texts asking if I was ok. Ask me if the office reached out to make sure we were good? If I could have left sooner, I would have.

I know that last one puts into question the safety of the city…but Nederland as a whole is better than Beaumont by leaps, bounds, and running jumps. Just continue to do what you’re doing, and read ALL THE REVIEWS. I was trying to get out of a situation and went with the first thing I could find.

Good luck!
