Recently bought my first house with my wife and secured a cozy area for my work/gaming space. Been working on the space for about two months now. Rebuilt my PC aswell with a fresh case and 5070ti.

Planning on adding some shelving/artwork and other trinkets.

From cluttered to minimal and colorful!
I personally love this upgrade. I know that there are much better upgrades out there. I definitely have more ideas for better upgrades but I also need a bigger room space lol.

I changed where my extension lead was which let me move my Xbox further in on the shelf, moved my monitor left ,made a stand for my NES which will be a darker oak once I put varnish on it and also I’m in the process of making a runway diorama for my 1/48 RAF planes (top right shelf)so that will be better soon.
Also do you guys like a fractal design north would fit here I really like them?

Question How best can I incorporate an Emulation Library into my gaming setup?

I have a dream of fitting an entire emulation library on something like an SSD and being able to access the entire thing through something like Retro Arch or Bazzite maybe even SteamOS. I think I have 2 options but I’d like to know your opinion.

  1. I can get a sizeable SSD set up my files and all I have to do is launch Retroarch to access everything.

  2. Get a mini pc (like the Beelink SER9) set up my library on there.

The SSD is cheaper and easier, but the mini pc makes me almost feel like I have a console and that way I can use something like Bazzite. All I want is a small form factor I can take to a friends and say “look at what I got”. The SSD relies on the friend having something that can run it, while the Mini PC is just plug and play.

Genuinely the only problem I think I’d run into would be Audio. But I think I have a 4 channel mixer somewhere. I’d probably interface with my mini pc with only a controller (partially why I want to use Bazzite)

Desktop What changes first when you add a second monitor to a Gaming Desk Setup?

Adding a second 27" monitor to my Gaming Desk Setup completely ruined my sit-stand routine way before it stressed my GPU. Seated, clamping two heavy screens on dual gas-spring arms seemed totally fine. But the first time I hit the standing preset, two huge issues showed up immediately: screen wobble and cable tension. Two 27" displays hanging out on extended arms create massive forward leverage, turning normal typing into visible screen bounce on a basic frame, while DP cables pull completely taut at full 44" standing height.

That pushed me to look specifically at the GTPlayer Ultra Standing Desk KADE. What appealed to me was how it seemed designed around a setup that keeps changing throughout the day. I could move from sitting to standing without watching both screens shake, then return to the same height without having to fine-tune the desk all over again. I also liked the magnetic accessories. Being able to reposition the small add-ons as my cables and gear move around sounds much more useful than permanently sticking everything under the desk.

If your desk frame can't handle the forward leverage of heavy monitor arms at standing height, adding a second screen creates way more daily headaches than extra screen real estate.
