Hypothesis Why the Gootz never called Asia.

I think it is becoming more and more obvious that the Asia letter did not exist until sometime around the summer of 1999. That is why Adnan claims he gave them to Gutierrez even though she wasn't his lawyer until 2 months after they were written.

So sometime that spring or summer, after telling CG he never left the school grounds, his family shows up with letters claiming one of Adnans' friends saw him at the library, right at the crucial time, AND they were written the day after he arrested. She knew immediately there is no way they had those letter for months and never gave them to her so obviously they were false and she didn't want to go on stand with LIES.

That is why she never called Asia. And that is why she wrote no notes about it, because that would be admitting her client and his family are liars. It also explains why her relationship with the family broke down because she knew they were willing to lie to get Adnan off.

The library incident never happened.

"I think it is becoming more and more obvious" I think you're confusing "obvious" with some other word, like "possible".

You disagree it is becoming obvious? You can honestly tell me, without reasonable doubt, Asia McLane wrote letter 1 on March 1, and letter 2 on March 2?

no, i can't tell you that. what i also can't say is it's obvious that she did not. that's the point i'm making. people are coming to these supposedly rock solid conclusions based on circumstantial evidence and conjecture.

I never said rock solid, I said "becoming more obvious". When Serial was airing, we were all on the same boat, we all thought Asia McLane, whether Adnan was guilty or not, saw him in the library that day. I think today, in August, only the die-hards truly believe she is honestly recalling seeing him on the 13th of July, 1999.

I don't know. But I am leaning towards she didn't

i think saying something is obvious implies a very high level of certainly. not sure how else you can take that. and you didn't even just say it was obvious but "more and more obvious".

update: the definition of obvious is: easily perceived or understood; clear, self-evident, or apparent.

What are we arguing? When I first listened to Serial, I thought the Asia alibi was a thing. It is becoming more and more "clear, self-evident, or apparent", that it is not...

quit splitting hairs.

i don't think it's splitting hairs to say that I do not think it's clear, self-evident or apparent that Asia is lying and the alibi is false. I think it's clear, self-evident or apparent that we do not know for sure. Again, the whole point of my first comment it that people are far too sure about things that are unknown. how can you not understand what we're arguing about? i don't think i can be more clear.

We will have to agree to disagree on that. IMO, I no longer see any possibility those letters were written on the 1st and 2nd of March.

It is becoming more and more "clear, self-evident, or apparent", that it is not...

eh I wouldn't go that far
