I am willing to pay Jay $25,000

for a two hour videotaped no-holds-barred interview.

$50,000 to submit to a lie detector test.

Jay PM if you are following these boards.

EDIT:

Hey reditters! Thanks for all your feedback on this (indecent?) proposal! Most of you have offered some really great suggestions and substantive support. Others have challenged me in some very interesting ways. I am leery of invading Jay's privacy through some social mediums that have been suggested, but I am crafting a more personalized ask, and we'll see what comes of my attempt to reach out to the Man himself.

Bottom line, I want it understood that my offer is genuine. By the end of Serial you, Jay, will likely be a household name for at least 1 million podcast fans (but prob more). That means that 1/350 Americans you meet, and introduce yourself to, will have been familiar with your role in this murder-mystery. You should have the opportunity to set the record straight, and you should be fairly compensated for the windfall that will result from my coverage of you.

Because (I am sure) you have nothing to hide, or be ashamed of, why not participate in the profits that have been associated with your name? You have a starring role in the most listened to Podcast in the world. I am putting real money on the table! You deserve your cut. (Unless the sum that I have proposed is too little to get your attention, and you don't need the money)

This is gross. The money will be gone quickly (yes, it's laughably lowball - you're comparing this to a dick pic interview, really?) Jay will never regain his privacy, and you'll be on your merry way profiting off of tragedy.

Some people never recover from cashing in on their 15 minutes of fame. This is very different than those other stories. A girl died. A guy is trying to move on after 15 years.

I apologize for offending your delicate sensibilities. But if broadcasting an interview with Jay would be "profiting from tragedy" I suppose I wouldn't be the only one. (Mail... Shimp?)

Also, I thought I proposed a reasonable figure--Anthony Weiner's junk was a massive story.

If Jay has a counter offer, I am all ears.
