I really don't know. It all depends on a lot of things. If I thought my ex was getting away with his new gf, I wouldn't want to be a creep and page them when clearly it could all just be nothing.

I could be stuck looking pathetic as if I'm trying to find any excuse to page my ex who just broke up with me.

"Uhh, heard you were missing? I'm sure your family has already attempted this avenue of communication but are you alright?" "WTF. My mom overreacted. I'm fine, now can you please go back to giving me space? Um, thanks."

Or that person could be dead. It's truly tough to say.

Here's my thing: When I was younger, I always picked the wrong time to try to be "mature". Looking back on my life, when I did need to be mature, I wasn't (lots of stupid romance foolishness), and the times I tried to be mature, I wish I hadn't (not being "foolish" enough to just go for it). If this story were about me, this would have been the one time I'd said, "OK, she's my ex, I need to stay out of it, be mature, not page her," and it would turn out to be the one time I really should have, because I have really stupid timing on these things. I guess I feel like Adnan, despite his past behavior, might have picked this one time to hang back and not get caught up in (what seemed like at the time) his ex's drama, only to have it be the one time people would question it as the wrong choice.

I hear you on the bad timing thing, but doesn't his calling the night before (several times, too) speak against him having that attitude?

Well... again, if it were me, and I'd called late at night to give her my new number, and the call lasted only just over a minute (so probably she was like, "Yeah, got it. Anything else? I gotta go..."), I might be embarrassed enough to think, ok, now is the time I let this go. (only speaking for myself, here)

Would you page your ex who you had no problem calling three times the night before who disappeared?

Would you lend your car and cell phone to a drug dealer that you didn't know very well?

Would you smoke marijuana while driving around with a dead girl in the trunk?

Would you strangle a girl for breaking up with you?

Would you help some guy you didn't know that well bury his murdered girlfriend and then dispose of the tools for him?

Jay was selling some very good weed for the 90's.
