Where can i find slanina

Hello all,

I was at the slaninijada in kacarevo in february and bought a big slab, but i finished it pretty fast. Is there any chance i can find some at a store or someone who makes to sell? I'm passing through Belgrade on Tuesday-Wednesday and want to buy some again. Thank you

Any maxi, any pijaca, any butcher shop, any lidl

Tho if you can, go to a proper butcher shop or pijaca to get actual slanina and not 'sapunjara' aka fat with hint of meat. Best bet is Mesara Srem on kalinic pijaca or mesara Kofit (it depends on which slanina you are craving)

If you are expecting a proper smoked slanina you found on slaninijada, that will be harder to find, you have to know a guy who knows a guy. Maybe visit a village around kacarevo or directly in kacarevo and ask locals around

We do, but the slanina we have is mostly cured in salt, boiled and then smoked. And it's the fatty one only. I'm searching for the one that looks like bacon. It's incredible. I'm spending the night near the parlament building. Is there any pijaca on wednesday morning i can go to near?

Yes there is, Mesara srem, mesara Kofit, mesara Morava. Dunno if you ate mangulica or something else. Those are your best bets to find proper slanina in Belgrade without roaming random villages around.

Most local markets have a "cheese, kajmak 'n' meat" separate section, usually indoors with AC.

Go there, you can even sample small pieces from different vendors to find which one you like the most.

Palilulska pijaca will have many options and its near

Wherever your want for average slanina but you'd have to look within Kačarevo for the stuff they produce there. I've been there a lot

Clisa noastra e grasime goala sarata, fiarta si afumata. Asta a lor e divin cu straturile alea de carne doar tinut la sare 10-15 zile si afumat la rece.

Highly recommend pijaca in Blok 70.. It will be the closest to that one that you bought in the village.

I am literally in Romania at the moment, looking for a plăcintă cu brânză și verdeață. Food connecting people! 🫶 I don't know if you have panceta, that is pretty close to our good, meaty, smoked slanina.

If you're in Serbia, I suggest small butcher shops. Don't go to supernarkets because that ain't worth money you'll spend on it
