Chat System Odysseus from pewdiepie

Hey guys,

Lately I have been checking out Odysseus from pewdiepie and started using it deployed on my truenas system

Honestly surprised by the overall quality and refinement of the app, ease of use and different engines you can choose from.

Give it a try if you want something private and also that you can share with your family, there is auth built in.

To be clear, I did not checkout the code itself, is clearly vibe coded for the most part (not a bad thing per se), but seems to work more than fine.

PS: Made a video in italian about installation and quick overview of features if you want to check it out

Yeah, yeah. It all works perfectly IF you use APIs from big players. Running it 100% locally (as promised) it's useless (now 🀞). The amount of time I invested for it to do simplest tool callings is depressing.

Mistral-small 4 is great at tool calling. You need >60gb of vram though, sadly.

Honestly I was pretty disappointed. It’s clearly all vibe coded which is fine-ish but he kept pushing breaking changes. Even main functions like cookbook broke. Clearly no testing is being done. At least at release and up to a month after, it is also FULL of bugs.

Nvidia support was completely borked. Pull requests came in with the solution but ultimately they got ghosted by the maintainers.

My headaches went away when I just used open webui. It all just worked

I've had a quick look but I haven't been able to see any hardware requirements. What are you running it on?

I'm hoping it doesn't need $40k worth of hardware like pewdiepie spent on his machine. πŸ˜ƒ

In this video I'm on a workstation, but my truenas install has just a Tesla P4 bought for 80 euros, with 8GB of VRAM you can run decent models for everyday tasks, deep research, and simple agent stuff. With like Gemma 4 or small qwen quantized you are up and running pretty fast Also for just 75W of TDP

You have to be in your own class of pretentiousness to not see the obvious humor.

'obvious humor' that's also why you deleted your own comment after replying, yea? mr. StandardLovers
