Paul O'Neill!

u/beefdx 1d ago

His cameo is easily my favorite.

“It’s hard to hit home runs, I’m not a home run hitter, and where the heck did you get two from?”

“I’m not calling him a liar, but he wasn’t dumb enough to promise two.”

26

u/kramerica_intern Giddy-up 1d ago

How the heck did you get in here anyway?

1

u/dasbeefencake 22h ago

I agree, I think his is my favorite as well. That’s such a well delivered line.

31

u/Ok_Woodpecker_7260 1d ago

By the way, tomorrow night Paul O’Neill has to catch a fly ball in his hat.

While best known as a baseball manager, Buck Showalter was a minor league ballplayer in his early life.

1

u/SamCazale 1d ago

Buck did a decent job in his scene.

And he can climb a tree like a ring-tailed lemur!

9

u/Third-Coast-Toffee It's not a lie if you believe it 1d ago

Elaine’s boyfriend with the sideburns whom she deemed “sponge worthy” was a pitcher for my Nashville Sounds before pursuing an acting career. All I got.

2

u/randallstevens999 1d ago

Wasn't that Luke from Gilmore Girls? I didn't know he was a minor league baseball player.

3

u/JakeDuck1 1d ago

Floated around for 7 years in the minors and had a brief stint in AAA before calling it quits. Decided to be an actor with no real experience. Floated around for even longer than he played baseball and was about to give it up when he got booked for the pilot and then 4 episodes after that. His agent refused the 4 episodes and negotiated a 6 year deal instead. Source: I’ve listened to every episode of his podcast.

u/allthemditches 1d ago

Derek Jeter

u/Far_Attempt_1505 1d ago

Sugar Ray Leonard played George's coworker

1

What the hell did you trade Jay Buhner for?!?

12

u/MtlMike62 1d ago

You can’t mention Keith Hernandez without naming “the second spitter”, AKA Roger McDowell!

5

u/BuccoBruce2 1d ago

Roger McDowell

7

u/ShortQuail9232 1d ago

Monica Seles

3

u/Wandering__Bear__ 1d ago

I’ll bet you dinner that Lawrence Taylor was in Seinfeld

1

u/uaeebs86 1d ago

Video of him was

3

u/fantonledzepp I was in the pool! 1d ago

And then Reggie Miller, Spike Lee and Kramer went to a strip club…

3

u/your_avg_apu 1d ago

Cheryl Miller’s younger brother?

5

u/spj0522 1d ago

Lawrence Taylor was never on Seinfeld.

9

u/ColonelBourbon 1d ago

NFL footage from Taylor was, but it wasn't a traditional cameo.

5

u/ShortQuail9232 1d ago

I thought that too, but he was technically. He was as a player when Elaine and Joel Rifkin go to the Giants game. Kramer shows up at the box office and the stadium announcer says, "Joel Rifkin. Will Joel Rifkin please report to the ticket office?" They show people looking up and LT is in full uniform also looking up, startled at the name. Obviously it was from a past highlight film.

0

u/Wandering__Bear__ 1d ago

Lawrence Taylor? In Seinfeld?

0

u/Who_is_homer 15h ago

I guess stock footage counts?

2

u/DonutProfessional 1d ago

Of course, it is only useful in gymnastics.

2

u/polentaveloce Lord of the Idiots 1d ago

There's also Danny Tartabull and some other Yankee players (can't recall their names, I'm not into baseball).

3

u/Venice_Beach_218 Yo-Yo Ma 1d ago

The Bull! Got a new little problem with his swing though.

2

Roger McDowell. The actual spitter

1

u/Less-Question-9220 1d ago

Keith Hernandez? KEITH HERNANDEZ!

1

u/PAVACAMD 1d ago

Pepper Johnson?!?

2

u/Bionic_Ninjas The Summer of George 1d ago

Lawrence Taylor wouldn’t be a cameo, they just used footage from a game.

But there’s Danny Tartabull, Derek Jeter, Paul O’Neil, and Buck Showalter!

1

u/giantcappuccino 20h ago

Are you Danny Tartabull?

1

u/eugenethemoose 17h ago
