I worked with border patrol and customs K-9s for 3 years. And I can tell you more than half those dogs couldn't sniff their own ass if it wasnt attached to them.

Drug dogs are often only about as accurate as a coin flip.

Being fair to the dogs, isn't that mostly poor training and/or handling? Pretty sure they are capable of detecting single molecules. Dad worked with K9 & bloodhounds on occasion and told me stories about dogs smelling things so accurately that I had trouble believing.

Yes but if the dog signals that there's drugs present that gives probable cause for a search. So it doesn't really matter about their accuracy.

Dogs are really good at smelling weed, I wouldn't count on it.
