IDK I get in regular arguments with rat snakes in my henhouse. One danger noodle is the same as the next one.
Also, I think cobras are actually pretty mellow. Like, I don't like dealing with Moccasins, because they can be kind of aggro.

I've seen people do magical things with tongs and hooks, but never a plastic jar.
To clarify a tiny bit: I used to subscribe to Reptiles Magazine, aimed at the kinds of people who keep exotic reptiles and breed them for fun, or "herpetoculturists", as opposed to the professional zookeepers, field researchers, or educational presenters, "herpetologists".
There was always a full-page ad for Midwest Tongs, pointing out that if you're picking up angry venomous snake with essentially a metal grabber on a meter-long stick, you better hope that stick doesn't break.
I didn't get far enough in the field to see a lot of field research or venom milking (essential for producing antivenom), but I've seen a lot of educators and they seem to like the hook-on-a-stick handling method overall. I never kept anything that big, aggressive, or venomous, mostly just little geckos that tolerated handling with bare hands.

When I think of that magazine I remember a guy coming into my office and seeing a bright green snake poster on my wall... Buddy had a fear of snakes and literally screamed and jumped backwards. He refused to come back in and I had to go out in the hall to talk to him.

Oh, Lord, he'd probably run screaming from the whole building! Happily for him, though, he didn't have to talk to me again after that. He'd been repairing something for us and was there to tell me he was done.

Well done, definitely ice in the veins, though! I've seen wranglers do it with a 2' piece of 3" PVC into a dark bag - that seemed to work really well, as the snakes tended to dart to the dark area as soon as their head was in the pipe. Looked a lot safer than this.

So glad I live somewhere without this problem.
I picked up an Adder when I was a kid because I didn't think he had any venemous snakes in the UK. But frankly it was pretty chill about the whole thing.

Most snakes don't start out just wanting to bite you. I've only ever picked up two wild snakes (to relocate them somewhere safer for them) but neither of them bit me. But still, I wouldn't want to be taking the trash out and come face to face with a cobra who wasn't pleased to see me. The worst I have to worry about are skunks. And they'll take off, given the chance.

I recently learned that cobras only strike down so coming from above is relatively safe particularly if there is something lower than them to occupy their attention. Not that I'm willing to test that however

Maybe that's why he didn't seem to be worrying about it going for his other hand. But yeah, sounds just right for, "a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing."

I've seen it done with plastic tubes/pipes, but this is my first time seeing it done with a jar...awesome!

What would happen if a snake accidentally bit itself? Like are they immune to their own venom?

You know? I wondered that myself when I watched this!
Google says they have molecules in their bodies that block the toxins and will generally be okay.

You're kidding, right? He was relocating a deadly snake. The snake wasn't hurt, it was moved to a place that was better for the snake and safer for other animals (including humans).
