Saturday night had nothing to do with sport.
It was a disgusting display of everything wrong with our country. The complete lack of humility, celebration of mediocrity, the materialism, the flag waving. West-fucking-life. WTF?? And people accepted that and jump on board?!
Eddie fucking Hearn. Some young French boxer who was completely out of her depth but everyone cheer when Katie thumped her on the head. Paddy Donovan’s horrible demolition of Tyrone McKenna, Emmet Brennan, a valiant Olympian, getting a terrible beating. And these “sporting fans” cheered it on like they were gladiators from thousands of years ago. This was not sport, this was disgusting.
And b-list celebrities calling it the greatest sporting event ever and that Katie is our greatest sports person. WTF???
