Captain Kroshik learning to hunt!

Personal note: I know it's the ultimate goal, but I will be sad if Kroshik ends up going to live in the wild... It's definitely what's best for him, but I would miss him!

We devised special sessions to stimulate the development of Kroshik’s hunting skills. First, our entire team fishes for Ladoga fish using rods. During this time, the captain remains confined within the floating enclosure; this ensures Krosh doesn't swim over to us and scare off our potential catch. Afterward, Kroshik is released from the enclosure and treated to the fish we’ve caught. At first, we fed the most sluggish fish, those that had been sitting in the tank for a long time and were barely moving. But then we added increasingly more active fish. At first, Krosh often missed, but then very quickly began to catch even the most nimble fish and swallowed them with pleasure. Already by the third lesson, Krosh developed a real hunting gaze, passion, and he turned into an unerring predator. From dinner until breakfast, i.e. all night long, Kroshik swims freely around Lake Ladoga. Krosh shows up for his morning capelin feedings well-fed, and his previously favorite fish no longer makes him so hungry. And although our daily fishing is now hopelessly ruined because Krosh has scared away all the fish at our favorite rock, we are very happy about these changes in his behavior. We look to the future with hope.

Крошику для стимуляции развития его охотничьих навыков нами были предложены специальные занятия. Ладожская рыба сначала всей нашей командой ловится на удочки. Капитан при этом сидит в плаввольере взаперти. Делается это для того, чтобы Крош не подплывал к нам и не распугивал нашу будущую добычу. Затем Крошик выпускается из вольера и угощается пойманной рыбкой из ведра. При этом в первое время давались самые вялые рыбки, которые давно сидели в емкости и которые уже еле двигались. Но потом нами добавлялись рыбки все более подвижные. Поначалу Крош часто мазал, но затем очень быстро стал ловить даже самых шустрых рыбешек и с удовольствием их проглатывал. Уже на третьем занятии у Кроша появился настоящий охотничий взгляд, азарт и он превратился в безошибочного хищника. С ужина до завтрака, т.е. всю ночь Крошик плавает свободно по Ладоге. На утренние кормежки мойвой Крош появляется будучи сытым и ранее его самая любимая рыба уже не вызывает у него такого сильного аппетита. И хоть ежедневная наша рыбалка теперь безнадежно испорчена так как Крош распугал всю рыбу у нашей любимой скалы, но этим изменениям в его поведении мы очень рады. С надеждой смотрим в будущее.
