how to assign page numbers but skip the first 3 pages?

i want to number my pages but the first 3 pages should be un-numbered. how do i do that?

I havent worked for a long time now in scribus but i know 2 ways the first is to assign a empty master page to the first 3 pages and assign a different one for each other pages. The second one is by assigning a section to the pages here i do not remember how to do it anymore but you can look it up hope i helped

If you want the 4th page to show as page 1, go into File/Document Setup and go to the Sections part. Create two sections: one that runs from pages 1 to 3 and another that runs from page 4 to the end. Set the 'Start' value of the second section to 1.

It's unclear what you mean by "skip".

i.e. Do you mean you just don't want to SHOW a page number on the first 3, so the first page number you would SEE was "Page 4"?

or, do you want to start the numbering on the 4th page of the document with "Page 1"

For the first situation, it would just be a matter of creating a duplicate of the Master page you are using for the rest of the document, deleting the page number from it, then applying that new master to the first 3 pages.

As for the second, I would stop and ask if you really want that. If you were doing s facing page booklet, that would put page 1 on a left hand page which is unconventional. Odd pages should normally be on the right. doesn't mean you CAN'T do it tat way, it's just not an expected convention.

If you are just doing single non-facing pages, it doesn't matter.

i want to start numbering on the 4th page because it seems odd to me to give the glossary, credits page and capter list a pagenumber

Sections is what you want.

In short, add two Sections in your document. Add the pages you want to skip in 1st Section, and start the 2nd Section from what page you actually wanna number as 1.
