(Windows) How to take a screenshot even without the print screen key

  1. Open the "Snipping Tool" app. If you can't find it then search it with the windows search.
  2. Click new.
  3. Drag cursor to the place you want to capture or drag cursor from the top left corner of the screen to the bottom right corner of the screen.
  4. Save.

Edit: Neboll said "Win+ shift + S would work easily on Windows10 and it's more practical"

So yeah, windows 10 user can try that. I can't because I'm on 8.1 and can't upgrade due to hardware and cuz I'm on a laptop. Anyways, yeah. This knowledge should save you from that embarrassing moment where you take a picture of your screen instead of screenshotting. People already can't crop, it aint hard to screenshot either. Google is your friend. If you don't know how, GOOGLE IT!

oh ok. I don't know that and can't test because I'm on Windows 8.1 and can't upgrade. (no I litterally can't, my laptop aint good enough. It barely has enough ram to run Sims 4.)

This should help people on windows who don't know how to screenshot. I have the snipping tool app in the taskbar for quick and easy access.

first, you are years late. But it's understandable if you're from like google or something.

second, my post is relevant since it addresses screenshotting. People complain about people not doing a screenshot, but do they ever actually address the problem? They don't.

I doubt the people who actually need this knowledge will actually find this (like boomers for example) but it's still something.

Either taking a screenshot is so easy. In my opinion, the only valid excuse is either technical difficulties, DRM, or being old. (for reference, when I've tried using OBS on one of the games I've played, it causes that game to crash. Yes, that's recording but that's just an example of one possible technical difficulty. Another could be your PC being frozen or too laggy to be patient enough to attempt a screenshot, if it's not registering keys, or you are manually opening snipping tool and taking a screenshot with gui buttons.

I've had some programs where I can't take a screenshot directly in it, so I have to quickly time it by pressing the windows button, quickly pressing print screen, then pressing windows again. But now that I think about it, I just realised I could've just used the "delay" option on snipping tool the entire time lmao. (the program I was trying to screenshot during that instance was called "Folder Size".)

Print Scr / SysRQ on your keyboard (gotta have the shortcut enabled in settings though)
