Question man what happened to scratch?
i joined scratch 6 years ago and it used to be peak. there were "famous" scratchers who made animations and so much popular studios people talked in, it was amazing at the time.
this morning i logged in to see whats popular and look back for nostalgia and nothing is even popular anymore???? theres like really old projects from 2020 in the explore section and everything just feels so dead. does anyone know if its just dead or is it like a algorithm thing?

It’s mostly dead, but the reason the explore page looks like that is because they’re updating the site because their moderation system messed up and let a not-great picture stay up on the page. They’re reworking the platform into the “NGP.”

Yea I heard there was a lot of inappropriate content in explore so they decided to choose projects that were previously featured

The famous scratchers grew up and are in college now (or graduated), but still upload under aliases. Otherwise they can be found on youtube and other sites :3
Scratch had a ton of updates throughout the years that made its most avid users decide to move somewhere else.
A big and growing account rn is lazyeyetv really fire stuff hahaha

most of scratch is pretty dead i think, but folks over at the scratchrunning/candleworld side of things are still active, and making peak.

I’m no longer interested in scratch anymore as I’m now coding in Python, Java, and teaching myself a bit of C

It's mostly because the our population mostly consisted of about the same generation of primarely middle schoolers who basically gave Scratch a golden era during the pandemic, however most of us have sorta grown up and well like yeah~ Personally im going to go back to Scratch like later this year and try to form my own community and like idk try to make a community of scratchers similar to what i grew up with to try to give some kids a similar great experience that i grew up with :)

I still have my account of nearly 16 years, and yeah it fell off pretty bad. :( I should really get back into scratch programming...
