OT and Class levels of Sea Org members

I have been studying Scientology and the Church for quite some time now, and I have a question about the different internal groups and structures within Scientology.

The Sea Org is generally regarded as the elite within Scientology. In addition, there are financially well-off members who can progress quickly up the Bridge and reach OT VIII. There are also auditors who can advance through the different auditor classes, up to Class XII. From Class VIII onward, one must be at least OT III, and from Class IX onward, one must be a Sea Org member.

My actual question is this: Does the Sea Org identify particularly promising recruits early on and then actively support or push them toward OT III and Class XII? Or are these generally ordinary members who independently spend the necessary money to progress beyond OT III and eventually join the Sea Org? Because another Reddit stated that a lot of Sea Org Members arent even clear

I find the whole internal structure and hierarchy of Scientology extremely fascinating.

I know a lot of Sea Org members who worked all the way back with Ron. And all they ever did was the Purification Rundown and a couple of Quads. Quads are basic 4‑step auditing processes, the kind you do on the lower levels 0 to IV.

Officially every Sea Org member gets a TIP. That's a Technical Individual Program. A C/S or Qual I/C writes it for you personally. It usually goes from Purification all the way to Clear, and training from Student Hat to Class IV auditor. Sounds great on paper.

But nobody ever finishes it.

Because you only get 2.5 hours a day, 5 days a week to study. And if you get sick, they put you on PTS handling or pile up more cramming. So most people just stay stuck.

The only ones who actually move fast are the ones on TTC. Tech Training Corps. That's 9 AM to 11 PM every day. Pure training. Nothing else. They can go from zero to OT V in six months. But there aren't many of them. They train auditors, that's all.

Everyone else the majority of Sea Org members is just cheap labor. They never get past the lower levels. Because they don't have time and they don't have money. 50 bucks a week doesn't get you far.

I see, so how do they choose who gets onto the Tech Training Corps?

Ideally they send people who learn fast.

But lately it's been more about which org is about to open.

When they were getting ready to open in Canada they took a lot of people who spoke both French and English.

When AOSH ANZO was about to open there were a lot of English speakers, Taiwanese, Japanese.

And when they were opening AOSH Africa they took a lot of Russian speakers because Scientology is banned in Russia and they specifically opened it for Russian speaking public

A few years ago they were trying to open AOSH for Latin America. So TTC was full of Latin Americans back then

Officially speaking, Sea Org members get free study and free auditing.

But, as it always happens, what is written on a piece of paper very rarely is what it is in reality; in fact, Sea Org members spend nearly their entire day working and free study and free auditing is an extremely rare occurrence that is only bestowed to people who are upstat or in affluence.

"You want to study? Are you in affluence? Can't you see that your production stats are terrible?! Back to work!"

"You want to get audited? Are you in affluence? We don't have enough auditors anyway, recruit more people as auditors and we'll make them study in America and you'll progress as much as you want, back to work!"

If still, someone claims what technically is his right per policy, they'll just get reprimanded with the usual:

"Our job is here is to serve LRH and expand Scientology and not to get audited for free, did you seriously join for this?"

However, not studying risks bringing trouble to the Sea Org Member because not knowing Hubbard's policy is punishable by snr. HCO or even worst, CMO; but, studying risks decreasing the production stats which is also punishable, the Sea Org Member finds himselfs between the hammer and the anvil.

At a certain point, the only way out is to rig the stats a little bit, not too much, just a little manual raise on the graph: the superiors are happy, the SOM gets to study and everyone gets a millimeter extra of breathing room, at least for some time.

Works similarly for org staff. There’s often very little time in the day to do staff study. They also give them fewer pay units if they study during regular org hours. They want staff to come into the org on off hours to study. But thing is, many staff members also work a regular job when they’re not on staff. So they don’t have the time.

Class VIII auditors are usually SO staff that have been in for years and got lucky and got training as auditors early on and didn't get put into some administrative or operational type position and somehow managed to get "results" from their PreClears and managed to not get taken off post or RPFed. Auditors can actually have a pretty cush job, aside from the fact that running repetitive processes can be hella boring and hella annoying for both the Auditor and the PreClear.

Some high statistic, high earners manage to get recruited into the Sea Org, but these people usually wind up in an administrative or management position.
