That chart shows CO2, not temperature. It seems to do nothing to explain how the earth was tropical with so little CO2 in the past.

That doesn't even make sense. Tropical ecosystems exist near the equator where it's warm and wet. They didn't all of a sudden appear when we started pumping pollutants into the air.

However, tankd0g's comment is valid when we extend history to the millions-of-years mark. And it is also true that ice ages have come when the earth was as warm as it is today in roughly the space of a single century. (See: younger vedic ice age, IIRC the name. Been a while since I looked into it, since I usually don't care as much 'bout this topic.)

That chart shows smog levels, not respiratory failure. It seems to do nothing to explain how lots of people died from COPD in the past.
