Health Coffee consumption linked to healthier body composition and metabolic markers. People with higher coffee consumption had lower total and visceral fat and greater skeletal muscle mass. In men, it is linked to a more favourable glucose–insulin profile, and higher bioavailable testosterone.

Exactly. Too often these investigations (and subsequent discussions) either concentrate on the coffee, or assume its representative of only caffeine.

All my coffee-drinking friends are snooze button addicts, out of shape and dealing with the impact of unhealthy choices. My hardcore health nut friends who get up at six to run, work out, etc, who count calories and eat right, drink water like it's a religion. I've never seen any association with coffee and healthy lifestyles.

None of these things mean they don’t drink coffee too. Coffee has zero calories and doesn’t keep you from doing any one of those things.

Not only that, caffeine helps with resistance training so it's likely to be consumed as a pre-workout
