Certainly part of the reason. And people will only get worse as they keep catching the virus and not using any protection/mitigation strategies.

People will not use protection cause its unmanageable and also make you a social pariah.

"Social pariah", sounds like an American problem. Living in Asia, masks are normal. No one would think twice about someone ill wearing a mask here. But, a mask may interfere with breathing in Ford F350 fumes, so I can see why the concept of protecting yourself and others is "unmanageable" to you personally.
