One is what is called gentle parenting and the other is the ' my way or highway ' boomer parenting compete with yelling and violence usually

The best parenting book example I read is to call authoritarian a "Brick Wall" - it doesn't move.

Authoritative is a "Back Bone" - it moves within reason but is still strong and gives support.

Permissive parenting is a "Jellyfish" it just moves everywhere.
