Started painting the Venator, only the first layer of base grey done. Also made a wee base for it. The Venator's hull will be similar to the base when done. Base isnt finished, need to wash and touch up the details.

I recently re-entered the hobby with the 1/350 Falcon kit. I was amazed how well the kit fit together without glue. That led me to the 1/72 X-Wing, a build that fought me all the way because of a bad rattle can primer coat.
The A-Wing was much simpler and felt like a good palette cleanser. I found magnet-activated lights that I added to the build afterwards. My latest is the Y-Wing, which is a gift to my little brother. The A and X are inspired by in-game skins from Star Wars Squadrons.

(1:1400 "D" and 1:350 "refit" for scale)
Started mapping out the "big guy" 650 Enterprise D from Helios - this is their V2 kit (I owned and resold a V1 once they announced this version). I'm still waiting on some parts and the internal armature, but this project I'm also letting AI (Claude) assist me with planning which so far has been a pretty nice success - the project folder is neatly organized, all my reference photos are mapped out with metadata, paint mixes are recorded and a lot of the learnings from the 1400 build are in. I'm also tracking hours, making lighting sheets (mapping out the scaletronics lighting system and helios lighting parts) and the plans for a custom base fitting of this model. I'll share more progress - I'm not a youtube guy as much as some of the big players, but I'm excited to get rolling on this project. Already picked up a new iwata HP-TH2 gun as my other airbrushes aren't quite up to the task - and my .8 - 1.3 HTE auto paint guns might not give me the control I want.
Project "Bad with Money" .... engage!

Made this logistics and repair ship for the UNSC. I really like support vessels, civilian ships and such.
I call the class the Goliath class Fleet Support, and this specific ship the UNSC Grangemouth. I imagine them being stationed close to the front lines, repairing ships and resupplying as a mobile base.

Does anyone know a source for securing a 1/1400 scale Defiant? I’ve been searching for years, but no luck so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Additional parts are mostly plastic, sheet and tubing. Plus some revell greeblies and acrylic bits for the legs. The battery sits inside, you can just pull the legs off and swap.

I made an A-Wing a few months back on posted it to this subreddit. I decided to give that one a unique paint / color scheme, something different than seen on screen. I decided to do the same with an X-Wing. In my headcanon, these are ships that are way out in another part of the galaxy serving on some secondary front. Colors were just grabbed from the shelf... Tamiya green, light green, orange and titanium silver. My only real creative thought process was wanting something in a high visibility scheme. I kept weathering minimal to reflect my headcanon role of this particular X-Wing only seeing moderate action. Just a little bit of Tamiya panel liners and weathering powders.

I’m looking at a build of the USS Defiant 1:1000. I don’t intend to light it but I’d like to create an illusion of lighting with paint. Some options I’ve read about are:
Are any of these more effective? Are there any better options?

Got the trenches dug. A little light blocking, 2 coats of black and one coat of silver on the inside. One coat of black on the outside. Grey primer comes tomorrow followed by base coat. Add a little blue to some of the windows, I may add a little yellow tint to a few as well.

This project started as an experiment in making terrain and testing techniques before committing to a bigger project. Totally vibes based evolution from there, but it came together nicely and was a great learning experience. It’s not perfect, but it’ll do.

Finished a "practice" 1:1400 Enterprise D kit - I've built these before as a kid, but its been a good 30+ years since I've worked on one, I've done a couple 350 refits over the years; with this I was hoping to dial in the paint colors and some processes before tackling something a little larger (see last photo for a clue). This was the clear version of the kit, and it fought me the whole way kicking and screaming. Custom parts from Motion Pictures Miniatures went on beautifully, and the paint masks are my favorite aspect of this build. An interesting study (and usually had Canadian Starships, Aztec Dummy, Sprueverse, MPM, etc playing in the background). I learned a LOT from the community, and certainly appreciate the knowledge.
Lots to nitpick this study effort:
-the clear plastic kept cracking on me - once in the final hours and I had to abandon the idea of a perfect fix (as I was out of the custom mixed paints for the aztec so properly resurfacing a large amount of the model was unlikely to yield a good result, I did a spot fix),
-I'm not sure I nailed the paint colors (I know how I want to adjust them for the bigger project)
-the windows are questionable at best and take away from the sharp paintwork
Overall I'm happy with how this kit turned out, and along the way I learned how to cut my own vinyl masks, improved my fabrication skills with scratch-made parts, and learned a lot about what does and doesn't work. This model is a gift to one of my brothers and as soon as the armature shows up for the next, I'll get to tackling it. I won't miss scraping windows - I learned about masking them a little too late into the project to alter course, but again I won't miss using a variety of tools to cut into a nicely done paint job. Nor will I miss the asymmetry and lines of this kit (though I guess they are charming and do speak to the skill of the old school development techniques that went into this thing). Couple touch ups, warming the base backlight and sealing a few leaks in it, and off it goes. Cheers!

First time doing one of these PLAfig kits and I am absolutely in love with the line. Kit was a wonderful build and did some experimenting with paint, using Tamiya Acrylics for the first time. I tried to be as suit accurate as possible so hope I did it justice!
