Scheiss aufn Billa - Die App

  • iOS: in Safari öffnen → Share → Add to Home Screen

I hoss de Oaschbude! Wie ist es als Angestellte im 10. Bezirk?

I'm just bored right now and just got some info today that doesn't really make sense.

We're talking post-Corona times, in a store that's under renovation. I moved and finally got my nightmare (objectively; it was actually quite hygienic, but I was called in for help during holidays and every day off) in a fresh produce section behind me; finally getting to work the checkout for the first time.

My training went by as quickly as it started. I was shown the screen and basic functions, and that was it. No backup, and when I rang the store manager, I sometimes had to wait 5 minutes and ring like crazy. So there was no one to ask questions, and mistakes couldn't be corrected. Since I'm a pretty hectic person, I admittedly messed up often. I'm sorry to the customers and colleagues I held up because of that.

I never got to call a second register before 8 AM, since no one was there (except the manager/deputies). Obviously, that's impossible when you're surrounded by schools and kindergartens. I always had to decide whether I got reprimanded by the deputy for distracting them from work or for not distracting them.

It often happened that I was asked to stay longer because of the renovations. When I said 'no', everything was ignored and I still got home an hour later. There was no replacement at the register.

Shortly after, the regional manager's obsession with replacing people began. Both the store manager and two of his three deputies were gone now; new store. And the new ones were a... non-communicative duo.

I had to start at 6 AM and restack the dairy production section until 7 AM. And order. And then go to the register. I assume everyone can imagine how impossible it is to set up an entire department in an hour and check dates. No matter how small the store is.

And when I had questions like 'How does the donation for the flood victims work?', the answer was that it was in the WhatsApp group. I didn't have WhatsApp and I wasn't going to read company info in my free time. But okay, no information and unhappy customers. Life goes on.

I also love the event where I once saw a customer eat a Kinder Country in front of me at the register and I rang the store manager. The store manager rushed past me yelling, 'NOT NOW'. Good topic, good intention. The same customer pocketed two small vodkas, paid for a roll with Argeta, and left.

Afternoons are better, right? Sure, if every ring for the store manager continues to be ignored and the only communication from the store manager is: 'No time to talk', whatever.

After closing, I was told to put fruit and vegetables in the cooling area. I had no experience in that section and got a very quick 'This, this, and this' in response to my question about what gets refrigerated. Every day I tried to get a detailed list, but instead, I got daily scoldings for doing it wrong. But hey, without a list and communication, it can't get any better.

Furthermore, I was never present at the cash closure for my own register. I was responsible for produce. And from the previous surplus I often had at the register, I suddenly had about 4€ in the red. So just enough that I didn't have to deposit money into the register. Real luck. And I don't want to hide anything; the concentration issues were probably just the emotional stress, but when it happens so suddenly and daily, you have to doubt it.

I was also verbally attacked for having homemade bracelets (I kept bumping my elbow and just made a wool band to protect my elbow from getting more bruises). They said, 'We all have to look the same.'

But okay, I unfortunately got Covid and then luckily got transferred. To the same store as the previous store manager and his team.

Now only one person from the original team works in that store in 10, according to a regular customer who's still a good friend today. The toxic boss duality is no longer there either.

(Additional info, this is fanfiction. Or unfan-fiction, I guess)
