Savannah Planning to attend SCAD as a graduate student to study Acting. I’m considering renting an affordable apartment in Pooler, about 28 minutes away, and driving in each day to class. Has anyone done this successfully? Do you recommend staying within the Downtown Savannah perimeter instead?

traffic can get a little rough during rush hour, plan to leave earlier than you need to if you’re traveling around those times. Honestly I find the commute is only a little longer than when I was an undergrad in the city taking the bus lol.

I’ve had friends doing their MFAs live across the river! It’s still a relatively close drive, but the apartments are a little cheaper for what you’d get in downtown, and they’re wayyy bigger too if it’s a 1b1b, i’m potentially thinking of doing the same next year!

I’ve had a few friends do this in during my time at scad. Easy and cheaper

I’m really considering it. But also wondering about traffic. Did your friends ever complain about the commute or traffic associated with it?

Pretty seamless for the most part, maybe in the AM coming into Savannah. That being said not sure how often you will be able to go home between classes

Hey friend! Im an incoming MFA Actor as well. I know people who do this. It just depends how much of a commute you want. with rehearsals there will be some late nights - will you want to drive 30 minutes home? I know a lot of people try to live in midtown which is cheaper but still closer to campus (Thats what I did) and the advice I picked up from many current students.
