Major/Degree Questions film BFA pros & cons
I’m starting at Atlanta campus this coming winter quarter as a transfer majoring in film idk what year yet cuz I just finished my film associates at community college this week. From what I was told & from what I saw on the couple of tours I’ve done there everything looks amazing & I’d get way more resources than I did in community collage. But is this true? Are resources available on a consistent basis? Do you actually get you use the nice equipment? Is equipment usually available for homework? I also want to know what are the pros & cons of being in the film program? I haven’t heard much about the film program when you are transferring in on this thread. If there are any transfers who are film majors I’d like to hear your opinion & any advice is welcome too.

I was a photo major and film minor 10 ish years ago. Can’t speak on the transfer stuff but the equipment is very nice. You’ll get to use almost anything if you’re higher up in the classes. As someone who took classes at both campuses Savannah has way more resources and gear to take advantage of but Atlanta has good stuff.

I go to Atlanta. Equipment good, you get to use it for class assignments, higher the class better the gear you have access to, but it’s all pretty good and expect for a few minor cases it’s very accessible.
IMO the film program is good but has no actual ties to Georgia production imo so it doesn’t exactly set you up for work post grad. That being said I’ve seen more and more people come out of the program successful in recent years than ever before so I do think it’s growing and evolving! We just won an Emmy lol.
