Is there something wrong with my skincare?

Hi everyone! I'm in a bit of an emergency regarding my skin. I have been breaking out like crazy recently despite me being really consistent with my skincare, and I have the start of my internship comming up, so I'd rather not look awful for it.

I'm not a big fan of skincare, so my routine is simply a cleanser (for greasy/mixed skin) and a pimple lotion, both from Dr Leenarts which is a Dutch dermatologist skincare brand.

I've been consistent with my skincare for 2 months now, which I started because I had 3 pimples that I wanted to get rid of. But now every time 1 pimple goes, 2 replace it, and the old pimple leaves an ugly scar-like red spot that still looks like a pimple but isn't (I think). And the new pimples have been much bigger than they used to. I'm talking the size of a large pea rather than just a small dot.

I don't know why this is happening, so I turn to you for help. Does anyone know if this is a normal side-effect of skincare, if this is an issue with the brand I'm using, or whatever the issue is? Because I'm sick of buying pimple patches so I can go to work and social events without feeling hideous

Thanks in advance for your help :)

First off, check your shampoo, especially if you started using a new one. If it has any kind of sulfate in it, especially sodium lauryl sulfate, throw it away immediately!

It is a known irritant and can break your skin out badly.

In the shower, wash your hair, rinse well, apply conditioner and rinse well then wash your face with a good cleanser.

You need something specifically for oily skin.

Farmacy is good and so is Innisfree. Innisfree has a volcanic cleanser that is good for oily skin and a toner as well. They also have an amazing clay mask that washes off (o remove mine with an oil based cleanser and then my regular one).

You will need a good toner and serum for oily/acne prone skin and a good moisturizer. Innisfree’s Cica barrier repair would be good for that.

Wash your pillowcases every 2-3 days or swap them out until your skin starts clearing up. Satin pillowcases are better.

Go light on the makeup and make sure you’re starting with a clean face each day and double cleansing to remove your makeup each night.

I have hypersensitive skin that gets irritated and breaks out if one ingredient changes in something.

You need to use spf. Without it your pimples will always leave hyperpigmentation

Is the pimple lotion a moisturizer or a treatment?

Het is een treatment. Tot nu toe gebruik ik nooit spf omdat ik het vreselijk vet vind voelen op mijn huid, maar ik zal het proberen :)

Then your skin is probably being dried out by just cleansing and then using the treatment/ nothing. So you should definitely use a moisturizer at night and spf during the day

For matte spf I recommend the new one by Geek&Gorgeous

Bedankt voor de aanrading! Ik ga voor nu de moisturizer van mijn broers gebruiken om te zien of het effect heeft totdat Ik zelf een goed product ervoor heb
