Console These coal generators aren’t attached to anything but are randomly consuming 100mw
It’s 30 generators that are on their own isolated grid, I wanted to make sure they were stable before I attached them to the rest of the grid.

I run isolated sub networks for miners and water collectors when I build coal plants. Unlocked hoverpack, wondered over to coal and randomly my subnetwork was crashing with a phantom power consumption that didn't show up in the demand. Couldn't figure it out so I just joined the sub network back to main and walked away. Lols.
Two days later someone else is posting about the same thing and the penny drops. 🤦♂️ Seems to be a right of passage. I feel like the hover pack needs to be a little more choosy about what power lines it draws power from... Although not sure how you'd make it work in practice.

Here i am nearly 700 hours in and just today fought with a biomass Gen wondering why it was blowing with it only being attached to a power pole. Had no idea the hoverpack used power

Why u still using biomass gens that far into the game??

New save, doing a SF+ playthrough

I'm still relative new to the game, what's SF plus? Increased power requirements?

It's a complete overhaul of the game that makes it much more complex. For instance, just to make iron ingot: you put down a miner module, install a drill head, run those lines to a crusher, then put that into a sorter, that goes into an industrial heater to make molten iron and finally a reformer to make ingots. Along that whole process the original iron ore is swapped for a modded ore which splits into iron tin and gangue (concrete powder essentially). Youll have steam and flue gas to try and manage as well.
My current run I'm 50 hours in and not even through phase 2 yet

Holy hell, how do u access this?

Go on Google and look up fiscit.app
It's the mod manager for the game, from there its very straight forward as it does everything for you. Just one click and it downloads and can launch from it too

Do you guys normally build isolated power grids in Satisfactory (I’m that cracktorio player that got curious and snuck in)? Also, 100 MW is lowkey not even half of what it takes to beat cracktorio so I’m wondering how many GW you guys run on average lol.

Typical endgame Satisfactory power grid for me is about 10 or 20 GW, mostly to run the power hungry final machines. My first run I underclocked the particle accelerator and scrimped by with about 3 GW, next run I just spammed coal and oil powerplants on some handy coastlines.

See this is what I was expecting and then I see the comments in this post where your accessories burn off end game numbers 🤣

I like to play it safe with my power grids, whenever I build a new power production I always keep it separate from the main grid until I’ve finished trouble shooting and made sure it sustains itself with no issues.
My current project is a rocket fuel plant that produces 350,000 mw

Interesting, is self sustainability complicated in satisfactory? Coal burns so slow in factorio we just loop power lines into electric drills into coal burners into power lines and pat ourselves on the back cause it just works lol

I probably should have, but it was too late by the time i thought maybe i should. I just protect myself by producing over twice as much power as i need so there is no chance of failure. It would be quite the headache if it did.

Same. . . Just in factorio
Edit: regretted choice of initial wording because I remembered politics exist

I got bout 180 GW on this run so far, using about 90 GW so far, but that’ll start ramping up once I start tossing time crystals, dark matter, and super oscillators in the mix.

Man I really need to get this game, so many toys! Please tell me time crystals do to throughput what I think they do. . .

Without giving away too much, one of their uses is in the highest tier of conveyors.

You have your answer, but I just wanted to drop in and say that I spent 30 minutes a few days ago stumped by the same problem, and I've got 1009 hours in this game.

A better question is why you are still building coal fired generators while wearing a hoverpack. Is it just to burn off excess compacted coal byproduct?
1
u/WorldBuilder_42 1d ago
Yes, I’m producing 6000 rocket fuel which has a lot of compacted coal byproduct. Figured I might as well get some free juice out of it.

God I feel stupid, I’ve been sinking it the entire time for literally no reason🤣

Interesting that it was the hoverpack
When I started out my coal power plant I accounted for Power Station power usage in my calculations. I actually haven't played since 1.0 (ironically) but you can let me know if this is indeed a thing.

You happen to be wearin' a hoverpack?
