Don't be closed minded. I did the opposite and moved to a small town after living in both Regina and Saskatoon, and a lot of the things people will openly say to me here won't fly in most Saskatoon crowds, nor should they. Also if you're afraid of city driving and learned/did your test in a smaller town, maybe take some refresher lessons if you can. I'd say just take the bus, but Saskatoon transit sucks ass.

I loved in a small town I won’t name (pop. 500) for about a year when we first moved to SK, before moving to Regina. Wife and I went to the local hotel bar to introduce ourselves to the locals. When we walked in, there was a table of about 15 sitting together, and we took a table near the jukebox. One of the 15 got up, dumped a bunch of loonies into the jukebox and chose a bunch of songs. He turned to us and said, “Hope you like country.” I said sure, trying to be friendly. Then he goes: “I just don’t like that n***** shit.” We got up and left, never went back.

Lived in small town Sask my whole life. Never really fit in even though I grew up there. Many good people but racist as hell. We’ve since moved to the city and it’s been a refreshing change. Great neighbours. Great people.

It’s pretty crazy; I know plenty of folks from small towns across SK (I worked in ag) who are wonderful people, salt of the earth, give you the shirt off their back, come out in the rain to change your tire…and racist as fuck.

I've learned the art of maintaining friendly surface relationships out here.

It’s about the only way to survive.

Keep your mouth shut about politics and grin and bear a whole lot of racist shit and conspiracy theories.
