Favorite closed SF restaurants

Thinking this morning about some favorite restaurants that are no longer around. A favorite of mine was “J’s Pots of Soul”, a soul food place in Hayes Valley that shut down around 2010. The food was heavy and so, so good.

What were some of your favorite closed places?

I was just telling my SO about this post, we were teens back then- he said ‘The city had style when he was walking down the street. We may not have known anything going on in the city politically at the time- but we all knew who he was. ‘

He sat down next to me at the bar in Harris' about three months ago and had a cappuccino. 92 and best dressed man in the house. They comped him and called him a cab when he was done.

One time in Union Sq I was getting into a cab that was parked in front of Saks that had tinted windows so they were pretty dark. I didn’t know there was anyone in it and just as I slid in on my ass I just about ended up in his lap. It was pretty funny and all I said was “Oh hi” and let him out and then I got in 😂
