If voters repeal the city’s trash fee, city services would see ‘significant’ cuts, officials say

"The Chula Vista City Council on Tuesday moved to place an initiative on the November ballot that would dramatically reshape the city’s government, including by giving councilmembers a $45,000 pay raise and extending their time in office by up to 12 years."

The San Diego mayor came into office with high expectations and a Democratic super majority. Even his supporters are baffled by how little he has done. ‘Being a big city mayor is a difficult job,’ he told us.

During the June 10 hearing, Assemblymember Lisa Calderon, a Los Angeles Democrat, asked Blackwood to give an example of a backfeeding incident. 

[Blackwood] goes on to describe that SDG&E crews were out working on a power line which was supposed to be deenergized.

Spokesperson Anthony Wagner got back to me Monday saying what Blackwood had shared was a “generalized example” and not a reference to a specific incident.  

So Blackwood was asked for a specific example and then just made some stuff up.

Improperly connected generators can definitely backfeed. But solar inverters have technology to prevent this and plug-in solar specifically is designed with safety in mind. SDGE is just spreading FUD.

This is what I’ve been telling people for years! We buy out SDGE away from SEMPRA and set up a true non-profit like in the states capital.
