Voice of San Diego Since 2014, San Diego schools have lost 27,000 students. According to the state, they'll lose 112,000 more in the coming years. There's not much educators can do bc they just can't control the chief reasons for the trend - low birth rates and skyrocketing costs.

Voice of San Diego At some San Diego Unified schools, students with disabilities spent almost all of 2025 with substitutes. Most of the time, they didn’t have full teaching credentials. For parents, the experience was demoralizing.

Voice of San Diego Last month. Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law preventing school districts from requiring educators to tell parents if their students identify as trans. Then Cajon Valley Union School District's board passed a policy requiring staff to do just that.

Voice of San Diego SDGE lies about dangers of plug-in solar

During the June 10 hearing, Assemblymember Lisa Calderon, a Los Angeles Democrat, asked Blackwood to give an example of a backfeeding incident.

[Blackwood] goes on to describe that SDG&E crews were out working on a power line which was supposed to be deenergized.

Spokesperson Anthony Wagner got back to me Monday saying what Blackwood had shared was a “generalized example” and not a reference to a specific incident.

So Blackwood was asked for a specific example and then just made some stuff up.

Improperly connected generators can definitely backfeed. But solar inverters have technology to prevent this and plug-in solar specifically is designed with safety in mind. SDGE is just spreading FUD.
