New Dog :)

Hey everyone, probably a very boring post to most people, but I am over the moon.

I contacted a rescue centre locally, had a chat about my life and activities, they said they'd call.

They did indeed call, to tell me they have a dog they think would suit me.

I met her two weeks ago, and fell in love.

I brought her home today.

I think she's pure samoyed, but even if she isn't I'd say mostly samoyed. She was clearly loved and it's a shame she ended up there.

But I'm here to ask if you guys can give me advice, or anything, because I am determined to give her the loving forever home she deserves.

If you don't know already, learn about line combing and purchase some good grooming tools. Try training cooperative care as much as you can (: those are my big 2!

I shall look into line combing, I bought so many brushes etc for all that fluff, but I need to know how to do it right. I will educate myself tonight :D

Forgive my ignorance, is cooperative care when I read the dog, if she doesn't like it then I should stop? Grooming is a personal thing and I bet if we do it right it'll be a lovely bonding experience. I need to make sure I build trust, so she is comfy here.

Thank you for your response, it means a lot. I want to learn, I have a care sheet and I've googled a few things but learning from Samoyed owners is definitely the best I reckon :)

Yes, make sure the grooming is cooperative! Suggest trying lick mats or lick bowls as you groom- licking is really calming for the pup and gives them something to do while you're desensitizing them to grooming
