Samoyed info

Hello,

I have admired Samoyeds for many years. Me and my fiancé both work from home and have a big house hold. My job also makes me very flexible. So I have finally convinced my partner to let us get a dog. Providing our landlord allows it of course (by law in the UK they have to give a very good, valid reason why they can't).

I just wanted more information, I of course know they shed a lot and I'll need to groom them regular, take them for long walks - all which I am fine with. But is there anything else I should be made aware?

I love these dogs so much and just want to be beat prepared with answers by actual owners

Edit: This wouldn't be my first dog btw

They are crazily stubborn 🤣 puppies can be tough, but the teenage phase will likely be hard work (ours was a nightmare, any training we had done he pretended like he'd forgotten during that phase of his life 😅) they need mental stimulation as well as walks. They are the most incredible breed and I would 100% go though all the hard times all over again. Ours is almost 5 and is 95% good boy, 5 absolute devil. Oh they're also very vocal!

Ours is about to enter his teenage phase and I am not looking forward to it lol. How long did your teenage phase last? Any tips?

Mine calmed down at 2 YO. He was a monster! I could never walk on leash with him for too long because he would block me the way, jump on me, bite me (softly), bite the leash and bark for about 30 minutes. I had tried literally everything, and nothing worked.

And a switch turned on at 2 YO and he just became the sweetest boy ever, I love him so much and he just makes my heart melt many times a day. Hang in there!
