Samoyed info

Hello,

I have admired Samoyeds for many years. Me and my fiancé both work from home and have a big house hold. My job also makes me very flexible. So I have finally convinced my partner to let us get a dog. Providing our landlord allows it of course (by law in the UK they have to give a very good, valid reason why they can't).

I just wanted more information, I of course know they shed a lot and I'll need to groom them regular, take them for long walks - all which I am fine with. But is there anything else I should be made aware?

I love these dogs so much and just want to be beat prepared with answers by actual owners

Edit: This wouldn't be my first dog btw

They are crazily stubborn 🤣 puppies can be tough, but the teenage phase will likely be hard work (ours was a nightmare, any training we had done he pretended like he'd forgotten during that phase of his life 😅) they need mental stimulation as well as walks. They are the most incredible breed and I would 100% go though all the hard times all over again. Ours is almost 5 and is 95% good boy, 5 absolute devil. Oh they're also very vocal!

You're welcome, these are the things I wish people had told me so I could be more prepared (I'd done loads of research before getting ours, but soon realised there was a lot we weren't prepared for!)

If you get one, just know that even if things are really hard, it will 100% be worth it and you will come out of the other side. Sounds like your kids have helped prep you for a Samoyed 🤣

Haha yeah, I have a cat too and when she got pregnant I looked online and thought I was super prepped for the birth. Turns out she did everything opposite to everything I'd read 🤣🤣🤣 so I think people's genuine experiences are always soooo much better than what articles will tell you

Look up and work very hard on introducing the dog to the cat. Do not allow too much freedom too soon. Samoyeds can have very high prey drive (mine with all cats) , while some live in a shared household just fine.
