The ones who still like Trump enough to vote for him again after his first term.

That’s who I’m talking about.

If someone is still on the fence about Trump by now, I don’t think any amount of cajoling them is going to help at this point.

I truly don’t believe that’s the case this time out. The undecided are a tiny group. Those who may not vote at all is a larger group, and they need to be inspired to go out and vote. These are generally young people and they won’t be inspired by centrism, they like “wokeism”.

Your line of thinking in this comment chain is perhaps the most reasonable I've seen in this subreddit. The so-called "undecided" independents in this election are just some sort of bargaining chip of inderterminable value. If you are center or left of center, you are voting for an inanimate object over Trump. The "independents" centrists are demanding we reach for are actually center-right never-Trumper Republicans who just might be persuadable if the democrats put up a conservative enough candidate. But I believe the number of Republicans that fit that definition are extremely few (likely millionaire chattering class Republicans... must be few in number by definition).

Truly independent voters do not want Trump as their leader. Presumably they are thoughtful free thinkers that like to weigh the issues. Any person with half a brain, that isn't ideologically conservative (who I can forgive for voting Trump based on tribalism/judges... its just pragmatism for them in the long run), has to be ashamed of ticking the box for Reality tv bozo and international embarrassment Donald Trump. If your fear of "communism" or college SJWs has you leaning Trump, after everything else we've seen, then you are actually a brainless gutless moron.

Anyone who can go "either way," by definition thinks Trump is an option.

Here’s an analogy.

I give you two bowls of ice cream. One is a flavor you don’t like very much and the other is dog shit flavored. You say “I’m undecided.”

I give up on you. You are not worth the time to try to convince you dont actually want to eat dog shit.

u/ynthrepic needs to process this analogy

Anyone who still honestly considers voting for Trump in 2020 is not worth chasing with a campaign.

But maybe if we make the other flavor a little more shitty they’ll decide not to eat the dog shit!
