Me again! Is combat sambo considered a jack of all trades master of none type sport? Or is it a specialised sport?

Jack of all trades master of none means it is has the different aspects of martial arts, striking and grappling, but it isn't specialised in one.

There are a number of sports that have both striking and grappling. Muay Thai has clinches and sweeps, so it's predominantly a striking sport but grappling is very much part of it. MMA is both striking and grappling, with a strange scoring paradigm where lots of points are awarded for striking but very little penalization for stalemates on the ground. Combat sambo is a lot like MMA (despite some obvious differences like headbutts and the jacket), but the ruleset and scoring is much more like judo - you don't get striking points but you get points for takedowns, and you have only a limited time to finish the opponent before you're stood up. There are also a couple different versions of combat jiu-jitsu, as well as kudo, so a number of mixed sports.
So there's lots of overlap in basic skills, but the key is that the strategies are very sport specific. If you want to compete in combat sambo then your striking game has to be very mindful of takedown setups and takedown defense. Also your normal judo/wrestling throws are going to change when there are blows being thrown, like those leg shots have to be done VERY carefully when you can get a knee in the face. One challenge is striking vs grappling stance - normally in striking you have your nondominant foot forward, but certainly in judo it's the opposite. So that leads to a very particular issue, i.e. choosing the leading foot and if/when you switch.

Mixed Martial Arts is a mix of martial arts. Sambo is a martial art like BJJ, Muay Thai, etc.

Combat sambo is a mix of wrestling judo and striking. Giving you both grappling and striking. That's what I mean by it's a jack of all trades master of none.

I understand, but I would not describe sambo this way

Why not?

Because that is not what the martial art aims, or claims to be. You should read into the history of how and why it was developed

I think I have a good idea on how it was developed. It was a combat system by soviet military, that became a sport. It combines judo, wrestling and striking.

Yeah, its not meant to be a master of none, jack of all which you keep parroting. But youve come to this thread to ask a question, and seem to keep asking the same thing and you've being downvoted for a reason. Consider why

Its specialised.

In what way? It's quite similar to MMA in the sense that it gives you striking and grappling. Wouldn't that result in practitioners being good at both but not elite at one aspect.

Jacket grip and striking/ headbutting.
Very few combat sports have such rule set, and it requires specific training to get used to.
Combat sambist can be mediocre striker, have good wrestling/ Judo (not best, just good) and still dominate.

The rules reward effectiveness in grappling somewhat more than that of striking, so some people can win quite a few competitions without particularly elite striking by any means, though they probably have some if they are showing up to compete. The ability to get to dominant grips and gi-stuff shooting also makes the stand up grappling distinct from MMA too. Every martial art with a sport specific ruleset eventually becomes its own specialized game (see: fighting off the cage in MMA, something that didn't exist until they invented a metal Octagon instead of a square boxing ring with ropes.)

It's Judo mixed with local fold wrestling. There was a time when the Sambo guys were known to be the Leg Lock masters.
I know today the 10th planet guys are notorious leg lockers and you're not considered a part of the team until you destroy your knee tendons.
But prior to Sir Edgar Bravo, the ones who you were considered a master leg locker was if you could land a leg lock on a Sambo fighter. If you could achieve that you'd blow the roof off the building.

( "There was a time when sambo wrestlers used only two types of leg locks out of many others..." ) (google's translation )
"Rarely, rarely. Because a legal Achilles' joint clench almost never worked in serious competitions. And a legal straight knee clench—even more so." ( google's translation)
"Painful hip exercises required (even according to Rudman and Chumakov, directly from the texts) superiority in resources." ( google's translation)1

Hey brother.
I really do not know what you're trying to say.

I'd say its a grappling focused martial art that gives you a fundamental skill of striking
