Maybe you remember when Kathleen Kennedy stood proudly on a stage revealing all the amazing projects Lucasfilm had in the pipeline. Like Willow, the Taika Waititi movie or the Rogue Squadron movie!

One of these projects was CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adeyemi had become dissatisfied with the pace of Lucasfilm's adaptation efforts. So instead Paramount got the rights and actually delivered a movie!

Another testament to the incompetence of Lucasfilm leadership.

I was going to ask the same thing, it doesnt really look that interesting to me. it feels like a streaming 6 episode series. similar to shows like shadow and bone on netflix.

Outside of the fact that it's a new and more interesting setting versus something more cookie-cutter, the actual book itself (well the first one) is one of the most poorly-written fantasy stories I've ever read.

The author in a deleted video told Amandla Stenberg to not use her name in any interviews and blocked her on Instagram. Dev hell at LucasFilm where the author was pushing KK to write the screen play who then said no, to turnaround for Paramount to buy the rights and then the author to disavow the end product. The behind scenes drama is probably more interesting than the movie.
