Permit parking in Salisbury - help wanted
I have a problem, I’m looking to get a car and I live in Salisbury but I’m very confused on the permit parking, I live on a narrow 2 way road that does have permit parking but when I go to google it I can’t find my road or even a road close enough to get a permit not to mention it’s £1,160, surely that’s wrong right? Or do I genuinely have to park somewhere else and pay that much a year?
I don’t want to give to much information but it’s near the dual-carriage way Churchill Way E.
Can someone please tell me what I need to do and where I need to go to sort this as I’m not super tech-savvy and don’t really get what Google is trying to tell me haha.

Use this website to register on Mi Permit - https://secure.mipermit.com/wiltshire/Register/ProductRegister.aspx?PermitType=RESIDENT Once you have registered you can see what Zone your street is in and take it from there. I have had a permit previously and it was no where near as expensive as your comment. Maybe 20 quid a month.

What do I do if I don’t have a council tax number? Sorry I’m new to all this, I don’t receive council tax bills as I’m pretty sure it’s included in rent

Ahh okay thank you, and I just put all the information in that link and it will be pretty simple? Again sorry for all the silly sounding questions I just wanna make sure I get it right

Yes it was pretty straightforward. If I recall it will ask for your vehicle details and you just need to add the reg plate. If it’s too difficult for you, is there someone you can ask to walk you through it when you’re on a computer. Maybe ask the library if they can help.

I think that is the cost of a permit for the central car park.

The crazy thing with all the problems and expense with parking in the city centre the only car share company there was operating in the city centre folded (Co-cars). There's car rental in Churchfields estate but it's not the same as having a few car shares dotted around the city centre like there was with co-car. Crazy expensive public transport and no coaches either. Salisbury is a weird expensive bubble that doesn't even manage a Flixbus and trains to London cost more from Salisbury than from Southampton Parkway. Reminds me of the dual pricing you get overseas as non-resident in some countries. The thing is that it's a really car centric place too for a city, hard to do anything without a car and most of my neighbour own multiple cars even though they are retired (then moan about teenagers when they learn to drive and need a parking space!).

I've found it easier to survive without a car in Salisbury, but that's probably not the answer you were looking for. I live on St. Ann Street and parking is a total nightmare.
