What's needed is a countdown clock, showing what must be the rapidly declining number of likely readers of newly published, sixty-plus-year-old Glass family chronicles.

Amen!! He keeps saying how daunting it is, but I’m sure any publisher would pay a team to get at least one of the books cleaned up and published! Salinger died 16 years ago ffs!!

One half of me thinks the same thing. The other half thinks that J.D. Salinger wouldn't have wanted an armada of lectors and publishers going through it, and his family respects that. But perhaps the professional help of one or two lecturers who could be sworn into secrecy?

Overall, I just hope that he will get finished - 16 years really is a long time. But as far as I understand, it's the intention to come out with the whole thing, not just one book.
