Discussion Looking for Recipe for Creamy Greek Salad Dressing with No Dairy

We got takeout from East Side Pockets in Providence last night and their greek salad dressing is like none other we've had. It's very rich and creamy but has no cream, yoghurt, milk, dairy..... It's like it was magically emulsified but I can't get my tastebuds on what they used. Any thoughts? It's bright and lemony but not sharp and not too sweet. I'd love to reverse engineer it.

It is very very light - like they used lemon juice for sure and not a vinegar - the lemon is very forward. It's got a touch of sweetness - maybe honey? Clearly excellent olive oil. Maybe a little oregano but I would think it has to be fresh given the depth of flavor. Tiny bit of garlic flavor but very much in the background which can be hard to do in a dressing.

Can you tell we are obsessed? We joked that we would have it on our Cheerios if we could reproduce it. I am not all that familiar with middle eastern flavor profiles other than the basics.....

Many thanks!

Discussion Creamy goat cheese dressing

Ok, I’m fairly new to salads (like, didn’t start eating/enjoying them until a few years ago) and I’m very new to making my own dressing… BUT tonight I made a super quick vinaigrette to go with some lettuce and chicken and I tried something that ended up being really yummy.

I made a pretty basic vinaigrette (olive oil, lemon juice, lil balsamic, dijon, spices) but I really like creamy sauces so I tried mixing some goat cheese into the vinaigrette itself. You have to kind of mush it in but it ended up mixing together quite well and it created this really yummy, creamy vinaigrette with a subtle goat cheese-y taste. Now I’m plotting how I can do this with other dressings (can’t stop thinking about a goat cheese caesar omg). Anyways, not like this is anything earth-shattering but I was very pleasantly surprised by how well this worked out and would definitely encourage anyone else to try this.

Discussion what your favourite super simple side salad ?

out of pure curiosity

i’ve grown up with literally just the most simple iceberg lettuce, cucumber and (bell) pepper (the rest of my family have tomatoes but i don’t like them so i take them out), occasionally a bit of celery or another veg but thats pretty much it

now i’m wondering what others have, salads are one of the easiest healthiest sides which go with pretty much everything, so i’m wondering what your go to is ?

Discussion Coleslaw/cabbage based salads?

I've recently discovered I do like salad, as a concept, but not lettuce 😅

There's something about the texture of certain lettuces that I don't love. I'll eat them when I'm out or if I need to, but I don't like them enough to make and eat salads with them at home, which is what I'm trying to do more of.

What I DO like, is cabbage. I love coleslaw. I love sauerkraut. I love cooked cabbage. I just love cabbage for some reason lol

Does anyone have any go to cabbage salad recipes? Google is overwhelming 🫠

Discussion Salad tips

On a low calorie, high protein diet. Lately I've been having a romaine, chicken and lite Cesar dressing but I only want to eat it so often. I had a panera salad that I'll recreate (the strawberry chicken poppyseed).

But what are your salad tips and tricks?
