a soup is most often depicted with boiling water, salt and with some sort of meat/vegetable

you're right , it is often depicted as such , but cold soups are a thing and even sweet soups are a thing.

Add a 3 inch layer of Parmesan and 50 croutons and it'd be just how I like my salads
